Jennifer Patterson, Director
As we reflect on Fiscal Year 2024, I want to celebrate and recognize the tremendous dedication and hard work of our Prince William Public Libraries staff. This year has had many milestones and successes, all of which were made possible by their commitment to serving our community and advancing our mission to bring people, information, and ideas together in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
From the moment the doors open in the morning until the last patron leaves in the evening, our library staff works tirelessly to ensure that everyone who visits feels welcome, supported, and inspired. PWPL is truly the hub connecting people to the transforming power of information.
Some of our key accomplishments include:
• The Mobile Library reached 10,733 people.
• We had 869,844 library visitors.
• We completed 2,892 U.S. passport transactions.
• We had 4,490 library programs with 153,841 attendees.
• Wi-Fi was used by 61,052 patrons.
• We hosted our first Lit Con event with 647 people in attendance.
I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for our outstanding
team. Our 12 library branches and Mobile Library have touched lives in ways that go beyond statistics and circulation numbers. Our libraries are not just spaces filled with books; they are cornerstones of the community, places of learning, connection, and transformation. None of this would be possible without our approachable, adaptive experts.
Our library staff's efforts have reached far and wide, creating personal, meaningful impacts for countless individuals. Whether it's helping a student prepare for exams, assisting a senior in learning how to use technology, or bringing the joy of reading to children in neighborhoods through our Mobile Library, the stories that have emerged from their daily work speak volumes about the care and commitment they bring to our community.
As we look ahead to another year, I am confident that the success and positive impact we've seen in 2024 will only grow stronger. Each of our team members has made a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve, and I know we will continue to do so together.
Thank you for the passion, care, and energy our library staff brings to Prince William Public Libraries every day. I look forward to seeing what we will achieve next, knowing that together, anything is possible.
Are You Yeti for Winter Reading?
What is your favorite thing about winter? Do you love bundling up under cozy blankets, picking up your favorite book, and enjoying the snow falling softly outside? Or do you love visiting the library and trying something new, like a program in our makerspaces or signing up for the Winter Reading program?

Spice Club: Each month, this new program geared towards adults offers you the opportunity to pick up a kit from Bull Run, Central, Chinn Park, Dale City, Dumfries, Haymarket Gainesville, Manassas City, Montclair, Nokesville, or Potomac Library. Each kit will include the month’s featured spice, fun facts, and recipes. Share your culinary adventures on social media and tag PWPL!
Keep Prince William Beautiful–Kids Preserving Our World Beauty Series: This family-friendly program will be offered throughout the winter at multiple branches designed to foster a love for our environment.
