*These general secretaries and five other members of the Philadel phian Society were founders of the Crusaders Club. The Crusaders Club was an association of Princeton alumni that, during its sixty-five years, sought no publicity and has not previously been mentioned in any literature about the University. It was founded on June 12, 1912 by Burr, Chaplin, Dell, Sayre, John H. Arnett '12, Dean Mathey '12, Paul F. Myers '13, T. Guthrie Speers '12, and Evan W. Thomas '12. The fellowship's stated purpose was "to unite a company of Princeton men in dedication to God's will for themselves and the world." From 1912 through 1976 every class had between one and eight members in the group. The first female alumnae joined in 1973. At annual meetings held in Dodge Hall at Reunions , those in attendance participated in a nondenominational service of recommitment, which was followed by each member sharing his or her social contributions of the past year. Individual interest in Crusaders Oub principles remained, but attendance at meetings fell, and by 1977 the yearly sessions were discontinued.
