Welcome to our 18th Annual Bull Sale!
Thank you for your interest in our sale, and a special thank you to all our customers and friends that have made 25 years of raising purebred cattle possible for us. The local support we get for our program has always been tremendous, and 80% of our bulls sell to repeat customers.
We think we have another strong set of bulls here for your appraisal. A little fewer bulls on offer on the Red Angus side because we were batting 65% heifer calves last year, and we cull the same whether there’s 80 in the pen or 50. The blacks are a nice set of calving ease bulls with loads of maternal. The Charolais are getting better every year, with both the 2 Year Olds and Yearlings being are strongest set yet. The feedback we get on our bulls is that they work and they last.We don’t trim feet on any of them, and we will display them on a dirt floor to prove it. Our Herd bulls spend 300 days a year in a corral, and we refuse to trim their feet as well. These bulls are grown on a backgrounding ration with the intent to get them in breed ready conditioning. This way if a bull does show signs of breaking down, we know it’s not the feed that did it. We confidently stand behind our bulls.
All the bulls are at TFS Fincastle, and will be there till Wednesday, March 20th, at which time we’ll move them to the Ag Plex. This is a video sale, with all bulls being on display at hand.

Delivery:
The Yearling bulls can be left with us until you need them, or till around June 1st ish. Take your bull home Sale Day and receive $150 of the purchase price. We will begin delivering the 2 year olds around the middle of April. Any bulls picked up within a week of the Sale will qualify for Sale Day discount as well.
Terms:
Terms of the sale are cash or cheque at par made payable to Perlich Bros., unless prior arrangements have been made.

Individual Bull Data:
Scrotal measurements and semen test sheets will be available sale day
Liability:
Any liability of the bull is restricted to the purchase price of that bull. If any problems arise, please contact us as soon as possible. Everyone who attends the sale, does so at their own risk.
EPD’s:
Please note that the EPD’s may change from the time the catalogue is printed until the registration papers are transferred.
Pre Sale Viewing:
All Bulls can be viewed at TFS Fincastle until the afternoon of Wednesday, March 20th, at which time they can be then viewed at the Taber Agri Plex.
Insurance:
An insurance agent will be available sale day to assist you with any insurance needs you may have. Although Thistle Ridge will be more than willing to keep your bull purchases for you until you need them, if taking this option we strongly recommend insurance as we cannot be responsible for bulls injuring themselves after the sale. Remember, bulls do 4 things. Eat, sleep, breed and fight. That’s 50% of the time doing something they could get hurt at.

A note on our calving ease score.
I’ve seen this used before in other catalogs and I really like the idea. Not only does it give you a really good view point on how the bull should calve, but it’s also another way to make us accountable. So here’s how I score them.
Cow bull. Period.
Recommended primarily for cows. If you only have a few heifers mixed in you can get away with it, but do expect to probably help a few.
Heifer bull. I would personally use these bulls on my heifers with no second thoughts.
These bulls have generations of calving ease bred in, and should calve any type of heifer with absolutely no assistance.
**Please note that a 3 Star Charolais bull is rated as used on Charolais heifers. I am still not comfortable recommending them on Angus heifers that I don’t know. **

Bull Warranty
We guarantee to provide you with a sound, fertile bull capable of servicing a reasonable number of cows. In the event that your bull is a nonsatisfactory breeder the seller will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for more than the original selling price of any bull or female sold in the sale. The consignors will not provide replacement or credit for physical injury or mismanagement. Therefore we stress the importance of insurance on your bull. An insurance agent will be available on sale day.
Vaccination Protocol
All bulls were vaccinated in the fall with Pyramid 5, 7-Way Somnugen, and Ivomec. They were boostered with Pyramid 5 six weeks later.
