As we embark on our 7th annual bull sale at the Medicine Hat Feeding Company, March 3, 2020 we must say how humble we are to always see so many good folks support our sale, many that have become really great friends. Your friendship and support of our program is not taken lightly. Your satisfaction is our main priority.
This year we feel that we have brought you a good strong set of red and black yearling bulls that bring a combination of performance and calving ease. We know there is something for everyone’s program.
We believe every great bull is backed by a great female and our philosophy is to always keep those foundation females with tons of maternal strengths and breed them to the best bulls we can and with that we get tremendous bulls to offer to our buyers. We are always trying to grow in the industry to find that right genetic package that will work well in our program and the Gelbvieh breed.
We take pride in how we develop our bulls, they are on 12-14 lbs of bull ration with free choice of silage hay and timothy grass. Growth is what we strive for not fatten.
The bulls sell fully guaranteed, semen tested and all the DNA and Homozygous Polled testing is done.
The bulls will be on display on Monday, March 2 and Tuesday March 3 prior to sale for viewing. If you have any questions regarding the bulls, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to assist you. You are more than welcome to stop by the farm anytime to view the bulls as well.

He has tremendous thickness and volume that takes it to another level from his buddies in the pen. His dam is an off spring from Jen-Ty Precious 33N who has raised some of our best females to date as well as some amazing bulls. Good Deal has a sweet disposition that we want in our herd. Don’t pass this guy up because he is at the end of the catalog, he was born on Feb 14th and should be in the middle of the catalog but was tagged a high number by mistake as a calf. He is bull that we talked a lot about keeping for our own program he is just that good.
understanding epd’s
Calving ease direct (CE): Percent of unassisted births of a bull’s calves when he is used on heifers. A higher number is favorable, meaning better calving ease. This EPD can be vital to a rancher looking to decrease the amount of calves pulled in his herd.
Birth weight (BW): Predicts the difference, in pounds, for birth weight of the calf.
Weaning weight (WW): Predicts the difference, in pounds, for weaning weight (adjusted to age of dam and a standard 205 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to weaning.
Yearling weight (YW): Predicts the expected difference, in pounds, for yearling weight (adjusted to a standard 365 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to yearling.
Milk (Milk): The genetic ability of a sire’s daughters to produce milk expressed in pounds of weaning weight.
Calving ease maternal (CEM): Represented as percent of unassisted births in a sire’s first-calving daughters. A higher number represents more favorable calving ease. This EPD is important to a rancher’s bottom line because it predicts which animals produce daughters with a genetic pre-disposition to calve unassisted as heifers.
Stayability (ST): Predicts the genetic difference, in terms of percent probability, that a bull’s daughters will stay productive within a herd to at least six year of age. The stayability EPD is one of the best measures currently available to compare a bull’s ability to produce females with reproductive longevity.
Yield grade (YG): Differences in yield grade score, which is a predictor of percent retail product. Smaller values suggest that progeny will have a better lean to fat ratio.
Carcass weight (CW): Differences in pounds of hot carcass weight, adjusted to an industry standard age endpoint.
Ribeye area (REA): Differences in ribeye area in inches between the 12th and 13th rib. Greater ribeye areas are preferable.
Marbling (MB): Predicts the differences in the degree of marbling within the ribeye as expressed in marbling score units. Greater marbling numbers are preferable and are an indicator of higher carcass quality grades.
Fat (FAT): Differences for fat thickness, in inches, for a carcass over the 12th rib, smaller numbers of fat thickness are preferable as excess fat can be detrimental to yield grade.
