It’s hard to believe a year has passed! I never use to believe the old saying “time goes faster as you get older”, however I have to admit, it’s true. The time flies by, making it all the more important to ensure we are enjoying what we are doing. To ensure we are following our passion and building a life we can be proud of. We are doing just that, each day we head out the door to a yard full of cows, bulls and replacement heifers that we are proud of, with a burning in our bellies to make them better, for YOU, our customer.
2021 threw us many curve balls, no different than any other year and no different than any other operation. If we stood in front of you and said it was “picture perfect”, we would be lying! Being young bucks in the grand scheme of things, we are learning to roll with it every day. As we prepared to write this welcome, we talked to the kids about what they enjoyed last year and the things they learned, it all came back around to one common theme … FAMILY!
1. We have an incredible support network of blood family and chosen family. Our kids see it and remind us all the time, staying connected to our tribe is most important! Our family, friends, neighbors, and customers – everyone we surround ourselves with enrich our lives. How can it get any better than that?
2. Tied for second to family but included in the same topic: Cow Shows! The kids love to show their heifers, they went to Summer Synergy, Canadian Junior Angus Showdown, Olds Fall Classic and Red Round Up. The common theme around all these events: we are together, as a family, and with a circle of people who love & adore our kids as much as we do! Enough so, they cheer for them as loud as they cheer for their own, get after them when mom & dad aren’t close by, and love to experience their success.
3. Also tied for second: Lake Time! Another activity we do with our tribe. Some times family, some times friends. Good honest, all day fun!
4. Calving was Hillers favorite time of year, which made us chuckle because the night we talked about this – calving hadn’t gone “well” that day! But he still said it’s his favorite – gives us all a little perspective, doesn’t it!
5. Topping our (Brody & Justine’s) list is surrounding ourselves with like-minded people (see, going back to family)! We spend a fair amount of time at the hockey arena and at 4-H. We notice the farm kids: the ones with exceptional manners, the ones who are a little more kind and the ones looking you in the eye. Good people, genuinely, to their core!
6. The last thing that came up was our feed supply! We are so grateful for the rich, high protein, very green hay we put up this year. Although there wasn’t much of it, we got more than some and it is of excellent quality. We had a fair bit of carry over from 2020, lesser quality but feed none the less. This year we put up our own barley and with the help of our friends & neighbors had it combined and in our bin in an afternoon, less yield than we hoped but enough for the year and we were grateful for the harvest. Like our hay & barley, our silage crop was down on yields this year however it will be enough and with the help of another set of neighbors, our herd bulls are being fed down the road saving us a little feed for the sale bulls!
Enough of the mushy stuff! Let’s talk about the sale bulls & heifers! You’ll see some new sire groups and you’ll see some of the sire groups we have had in the past. This pen of bulls is soggy, deep, sound, growthy and built for the long haul! Justine and I are so happy with them. Our numbers are growing, you’ll read a little more about that as an intro to some new Red Angus genetics, so we were able to cull really hard; which made this pen of bulls so fun to develop!
Our sale heifer pen is just as exceptional as ever. Just like every year, Justine wants to keep them all, trust me, ALL OF THEM. She might even keep yours if you ask! However, she’s not keen on calving all 80 of them next winter, so I was able to convince her to sell a few more than previous. So here we are with a stellar group of females on offer. Easily our deepest offering to date!
We are proud customers of Bullseye; with the direction of Doug Roxbourgh we are confident in the development of these cattle. Doug is on speed dial around here, helping us navigate feed needs on a regular basis. We are happy with the honest growth of our cattle. We want to push their gains but not over do them and Doug helps us best achieve our goals. Fertility, structural integrity and longevity are of utmost priority for us because it means so much to you. This is important to us because it’s important to you and your bottom line. Nothing makes us happier than calling on customers to hear them say “Yeah, that bull I got from you 5-6 years ago is still doing an excellent job” or “I need a new bull with fresh genetics because I have kept all the daughters out of this guy”!
The following pages are our passion. Raising the cattle, developing the feeds, being stewards of the land, building and fostering the relationships and seeing the fruits of our labors become investments into your livelihoods. This is what we live for; it’s what we absolutely love so we hope you see that in the presentation and genetics. Three factors drive us every day.
1) Family & Friends
2) Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard
3) We stand Behind our Bulls and Beside our Customers
Please, flip through and enjoy! We look forward to seeing you on April 5th at the Ranch! Stop by anytime beforehand, view the offering, tour their mamma’s have a coffee and feel free to visit as long as you want! We have a group of marketing representatives we are proud to work with, so feel free to call any of them too!
Diamond T has stepped up once again to provide you with a deep set of bulls built for longevity and sheer production value. You can invest into this program with confidence that you’re getting a strong product but rest assured you are sourcing it from a strong family program. It is a people business first and you have the opportunity to acquire from some of the nicest and most genuine in the industry. Their passion for livestock is unprecedented and well known through the industry with much respect and the amount of repeat customers in this sale is a testament to that.
This years set of bulls is extremely deep in quality and I know Brody & Justine will be proud to showcase them to you prior to sale time. The Black Angus pen is easily the strongest that we have seen to date with more grow, power and overall production in them while still maintaining strong calving ease characteristics. Their Red Angus section is very interesting with some new twists of pedigree after adding a nucleus of Six Mile females who are stacked with calving ease and maternal traits. The bulls overall are very strong on soundness, athleticism, balance and overall completeness while being backed by a strong cow herd with great cow families. Don’t forget about the strong set of black open heifers on offer as well that showcase the strength of their program and the type of strong females you can expect out of these genetics.
We encourage you to join us at the ranch west of Olds for outstanding hospitality and a set of sale cattle designed for ROI. If you have the opportunity to see stop by earlier, that is a smart plan as it would also be beneficial to see the deep set of working cows behind this group to enhance your confidence in your investment. If you can’t make it sale day, feel free to reach out to the Diamond T crew or any of the sales staff to represent your needs in a professional manner. See you at Diamond T on April 5 for an enjoyable event that is backed by hospitality and excellent cattle.
Best regards,

SIGHT UNSEEN PROGRAM
With a cow herd, a bull sale, volunteer commitments, scholastic activities and many more life challenges, we very much understand that being everywhere and doing everything just isn’t always possible. In saying that, in an ideal world we want you and your entire family to join the hospitality at our bull sale but if for some unforeseen reason you can’t attend, we want you to feel confident in our program.
Our grandparents have been raising cattle for 50+ years; we’ve been involved since birth, so we understand the fundamental characteristics and achievements that the cowherd at Diamond T strive for and achieve. Our cow herd is built around structural integrity, ease of fleshing, superior fertility, calving ease and the adaptability to thrive in numerous environments. We live with these herd sire prospects and their mothers on a daily basis. We develop their rations, understand the forage intake, study the genotypic balance and potential of the breed. But most of all, we know that the #1 priority is finding the ideal bull for you and your situation.
Our program is very straight forward: give Brody a call in the weeks leading up to our sale to discuss your goals, your cow herd and the requirements you expect your new herd bull to achieve. From that information we gather, we’ll fit you with the bull or bulls that satisfy your requirements, budget and goals all from the comfort of your home, office, shop or truck cab while you’re watching “green tag 938” calve. Please rest assured that our most capable bulls will be specifically selected by Rob, Justine and Brody with all of your suggestions, needs and objectives taken into account.
Bull sale shopping is so streamlined nowadays with the excellent service of companies like Mark Shologan’s DLMS, more advanced EPD metrics through breed associations and increased performance data. That being said, the relationship between you and us is still of the utmost importance. We want you to feel extremely comfortable and trust that we are going to assist you in finding the most suitable and best herd sire for your cow herd. We’re not satisfied until you are and your family is.

I have had the pleasure to work with the crew there this year to modify how we feed and develop their stock—using Increased u琀liza琀on of on-farm ingredients and developing mineral and protein supplements to fill in the gaps where needed. Changes have been made but the focus on producing func琀onal bulls and females that will last for years to come has not. The bulls feeding program is built to maximize forage u琀liza琀on and gut health. The bulls are developed on grass with their moms and then moved onto a balanced diet that promotes lean muscle growth. Organic minerals are used to ensure proper immune func琀on and the overall health of bulls. The nutri琀onal health and development of the bulls and the en琀re cow herd is of utmost importance and is constantly being tweaked to meet environmental and seasonal condi琀ons.

Customer Spotlight... “
CJF Ranches is a 3rd Generation mixed farm near Swalwell, AB. Originally established by Cliff and Vi Fyten, carried onto Ron Fyten who makes regular visits to the farm. The farm is currently owned by Gary and Wilma Fyten along with daughter, Jayda. Their oldest daughter, Chelsey, now resides in Calgary with her husband, Kyle and son, Cohan. The operation runs a Black Angus herd consisting of 180 commercial cows and the beginnings of a purebred herd of 8, calving from January to March. The steer calves are marketed, and top heifer calves selected for replacements. The last couple years, they have been feeding 100 replacement heifers for their own breeding or market. Years past have included custom work, feeding and calving for others in the area as well as custom baling and combining. They grain farm 900 acres as well as put up silage and hay in the summer months. “We are honored to call Gary & Wilma customers & friends!”
SIX MILE COW PURCHASE
Justine and I were looking to increase the genetic diversity of the Red Angus herd at Diamond T and after doing some market research with our customers, things that they were looking for out of red genetics were calving ease, superior foot quality, udder strength and the ability to be highly efficient cattle. After visiting with our good friends Tyson & Callie Hertz, we decided to go out to Six-Mile Ranch and purchase a group of 30 first and second calvers. The unique pedigrees, udder quality, ranch oriented females we were able to secure still come with the fundamentals that our customers have grown to be accustomed to with calving ease and high fertility.
The Bull calves out of these females are moderate statured, easy on arrival, great footed and will breed heifers like you could only dream of. Their OUTCROSS pedigrees are fresh and completely different from the mainstream pool. The females are exactly what we wanted with broody, tanky, powerhouse heifers that will be the foundation of our Red Angus herd for generations to come.
