Transition
from Winter 2020
This term, Mrs Tkaczuk, Transition Coordinator, has put together a team of year 7 students to help and support year 6 pupils through their journey through the last months of primary school into high school. The year 7 students had to write letters explaining the reasons why they should be a part of the transition team, and 9 students were selected in total.
These 9 students previously attended primary schools such as; St Margaret Mary’s RC Primary School, St Chad’s RC Primary School, St Anne’s RC Primary School, Lily Lane Primary School, Oasis Harpur Mount Primary School and St Dunstan’s RC Primary School. The students have made an exceptional start in year 7 and will be well equipped to help anybody with their worries about starting high school.

As well as the new transition team, year 7’s have also been writing letters to their former primary school teachers to let them know how well they have settled into high school. Over in science, Mr Cope has been busy delivering electricity sessions to primary schools in our area. The pupils involved have been learning all about electricity, even making their own circuits! The pupils worked in groups to investigate how different materials act as conductors and insulators.

Although the transition events that we normally facilitate within school cannot continue as normal, we look forward to working with our new team of year 7 students throughout the year and welcoming year 6 pupils through their journey to high school.
