Staff Profile: Mr Menga

What is your role at Our Ladys? Languages teacher and Year 7 Form Tutor.

Where did you work before you started here? I worked in an SEN School.

What were your first impressions of Our Lady’s? Staff and students were welcoming; beautiful displays around the school; great place to work.

What is your favourite thing about being a teacher? Interacting with my students via the target language and sharing my knowledge about languages with them.

What does a typical day for Mr Menga look like? Lessons, planning, marking, reading, family time and TV.

What is your favourite language to speak? Spanish.

Where in the world would you most like to visit?

Vatican City. What are your hobbies outside of school? I exercise; I like going for a run and socializing with friends. I enjoy spending time with my family. I’m passionate about languages and enjoy enhancing my Spanish.

Favourite film or TV show? The Equalizer.

Favourite song? Dave - Location.

Favourite food?

Couscous.

What is your greatest achievement to date? Completing my masters degree.

Who would you most like to meet and why? Denzel Washington: he’s my favourite actor. I have listened to his podcasts about resilience and failure, and it has helped me to become resilient and to embrace failure in life.

Best bit of advice for students at Our Lady’s? Don’t be afraid to fail.
