Prefect Team 2021 12
from Vision Magazine
Environmental Group
led by Senior Prefect, Jennifer
Hello! We are the environmental prefect team! We are here to take care of the school surroundings. Since we have become prefects, we have been planning and finding ways to make our school a cleaner environment to learn in and find ways for students to participate and learn how to keep an environment clean, not only for their benefit, but for younger generations to come.
Sandile Ndiweni
Head Prefect
Our Lady’s is one of, if not the best school that North Manchester can provide. A place of success and filled with learning opportunities. Our Catholic values as well as values from other religions and a diverse range of cultures provide a welcoming and inclusive environment. Our school also provides outstanding staff members and academically successful students. We also focus on our local area and our community keeping our students safe and community close. One of the values I like about our school is that everyone is equal, respected and almost like a family. This school is filled with intellectual and hardworking students who are eager to strive to be the best individual they can be. This makes our school a perfect environment for learning and shaping students to be well-rounded and upstanding members of society.

Victoria Odusanya
Head Prefect
I am fully recognisant of the considerable responsibility of Head Prefect, and I promise I will do my best to fulfil this role. I truly believe that this role would allow me to make significant changes in the school that would allow every member of the student body to feel expressed through them. I have constantly built my ability to work within a team as a leader while still appreciating the views and opinions of others, as well as developing the self-assurance needed to take leadership roles, and therefore take responsibility of others and my own actions- something I believe to be an essential skill for a Head Prefect. As Head Prefect I would like to give a voice to the minority groups in our school and work with staff to deal with any possible problems in school. I would like to offer my support to students in regaining confidence in their learning after the covid pandemic and I look forward to working with the rest of the prefects as a team in ensuring excellence within the school. I strive to achieve and set a good example for the younger years and to create a comfortable and memorable environment for what can be a very stressful last year. I want to leave this school knowing that I have given something back and made a difference. One thing I would like to focus on is mental health. It is a big problem in today’s society and I’m sure that everyone has experienced some form of mental health issues. Especially with exams coming up, I expect many people to be feeling under a lot of pressure and stress. However I work to help the prefect groups to improve our facilities at school in order to prevent mental health affecting students enjoying their time at Our Lady’s. It is an honour to make sure that the student voice is represented in key decisions and developments within the school.
Half Term Transition

During October half term, we welcomed students from our feeder primary schools into Our Lady’s for a full day to take part in some fantastic transition activities.
Students enjoyed two different workshops, ‘Peace of Mind’ and ‘Mindfulness’ delivered by Rob from Konflux Theatre. Science teacher, Mrs Riaz, delivered an electricity workshop and Kitty Short from Creative Confidence delivered poetry workshops. Mrs Ashworth and her catering team provided a delicious lunch and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! We hope to see you all at Our Lady’s again soon!

HIGH SCHOOL DREAMS
I stood there in the loud, busy, crowded cafeteriaAs shivers shockingly ran down my spineAn overwhelming feeling of perspiration Dripped from my sweaty, sticky, clammy palms I felt light and dizzy, my mind was very busyProcessing the situation Am I the smallest? Who is the tallest? What's for Dinner? Am I a competitive winner? Are year 11's actually scary and hairy? And look like Wolverine? All towering above me, Oh I wish I was a teen living the High School Dream!
