The newly upgraded school has now computer centers, chemistry, physics, biology and languages laboratories, as well as a soccer field, a swimming pool and other sports facilities.

From this flagship educational institution, the head of state opened the 2011 School Year on March 1. A total of 1,700 students will benefit from these renovated classrooms.

Ica, interconnected from north to south
The Ica, Palpa and Nazca provinces are directly linked by a modern 61-kilometer highway which required an investment of 20.6 million soles. The new road will benefit 793,000 people and will be integrated with other projects in the northern part of the region.

Essalud opened 71th UBAP in San Luis
A new Basic Primary Care Unit (UBAP), run by Peru’s public health agency EsSalud, was built in Hogar Clinica San Juan de Dios hospital with an investment of 1.8 million soles for the benefit of 36,000 policyholders.
Medical equipment for Lambayeque
High-tech medical equipment is now available for the benefit of thousands of Essalud policyholders in northern Peru. Investment: US$5 million.

Works at National Stadium continue
Renovation works at Lima’s National Stadium, which will be opened as late as July 2011, required an investment of 150 million soles. The sports arena will have luxury box suites, renovated grandstands, a new 8-lane athletics track, natural grass field, new lighting system, two control towers, comfortable seats, giant screens and a twolevel underground parking.

After inaugurating a 42-km highway stretch linking Mazamari, Satipo and San Martin de Pangoa towns, President Garcia said that these works are a small part of the government’s ultimate goal: to pave 10,500 km of highways across the country. The new road connecting Junin and Ucayali has required an investment of 14 million soles and will benefit 79,000 people.

“Costa Verde� marathon was a success
More than 4,000 people participated in a 9-km marathon covering the districts of San Miguel, Magdalena, San Isidro, Miraflores and Chorrillos. The winner was 27-year-old Edmundo Perez Torres from Huancavelica. Military personnel and disabled people also attended the event. Works are still in progress in several areas between Chorrillos and La Punta districts.

135 towns gain access to electricity in Lambayeque
An additional 135 towns of Lambayeque, Chiclayo and Ferre単afe provinces in Lambayeque region as well as Santa Cruz, San Miguel and Jaen provinces in Cajamarca region are part of the 10,000 towns that have gained access to electricity since 2006. The government-funded projects have benefited 3.2 million Peruvians.

Los Olivos University is a reality President signed a law creating a Municipal Autonomous University in Los Olivos.
The university, created under the concept of public service and municipal management institution, will offer 5 degrees, all linked to engineering. The university will serve as a Data Center that will connect inhabitants of Los Olivos with leading institutions in the district.

Millions of Peruvians continue to benefit from loans granted by Banco de la NaciĂłn (National Bank). To date, 3.4 million public workers and pensioners have a Multired loan. The bank have granted 440,000 loans to small and medium businesses, 800,000 debit card insurance policies and 275,000 Multired loans insurance policies. The National Bank opened a new branch in downtown Lima.
