Salina Presbyterian Manor
SEPTEMBER 2021
Art collection celebrates a Salina tradition Independent living resident Ken Jennison has attended Salina’s Smoky Hill River Festival since its inception in the 1970s. Each year, the festival commissions an artist to create an art print that’s available for sale. And every year, Ken and his late wife, June, purchased one to display in their home. After a few decades, their collection crowded out most of their wall space. “We just about had to move out, we had so many,” Ken joked. “We had a hallway full of them, three or four in each bathroom, some downstairs and some in the basement.”

Employee of the month: Virgil Windholz Congratulations to Virgil Windholz, Employee of the Month for August. He has worked for Salina Presbyterian Manor for five months as a maintenance technician. Virgil has one daughter, Patricia, and three grandchildren: Miguel, Chase and Ava. In his spare time, Virgil loves to golf and enjoys woodworking. When asked what most people would not know about him, he said that he used to sky dive and scuba dive.
Ken Jennison and his late wife, June, assembled a complete collection of art prints from the Smoky Hill River Festival. Thanks to their generous donation, the collection now hangs in the assisted living hallway at Salina Presbyterian Manor.
Virgil said that he has discovered how rewarding helping Presbyterian Manor residents can be. He is humbled to have been welcomed into this amazing community. u
