Six local artists among Art is Ageless® masterpiece level winners Six winning artists in Manor of the Plains’ annual Art is Ageless® juried competition will be featured in the 2022 Art is Ageless calendar produced by PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America).

“My Mother,” a mixed media/craft by Pat Bird, “Lovers Lane,” a painting by Linda Kobs, and “Crazy Daisies,” a sculpture/3-D entry by Joan Vogel, will appear in the calendar when it is released this fall. Works by local winners are automatically entered into a masterpiece level competition with winning art from 14 other “Lovers Lane,” a painting by Linda Kobs PMMA communities. More than 160 entries were received for this year’s masterpiece competition. The winners are featured in the Art is Ageless calendar with pull-out postcards and greeting cards. “Arabesque,” needlework by Kae Bryant, “Gordinia and Easter Eggs,” a mixed media/crafts entry by Susan Bunyan, and “Hummingbird,” a quilt by Gwen Rankin, will be featured on greeting cards included with the calendar. “I am blown away at the talent we have here in our community and am honored that we get to share this exhibit of artwork by seniors,” said Joy Wiggins, sales and marketing counselor at Manor of the Plains. “Art is Ageless is unique in featuring only the works of artists age 65 and older. Doug ‘Geppetto’ Schaapveld continues to work his magic for residents, staff If you can imagine it—and it can be made out of wood—Doug Schaapveld can bring it to life. For 16 years, the environmental services technician has been hand-crafting custom wood creations to meet virtually any need that has popped up within the community. Last year, Doug built a new altar for residents to use during church services and recently he created a shelf to hold the machine needed to take the temperatures of residents and staff members. “When there’s any kind of wood
