New sales and marketing director excited to work for a faith-based organization

Mark your calendars for Thanksgiving at Presbyterian Manor Presbyterian Manor will host Resident Family Thanksgiving Dinner Celebrations this year.

The dinners will take place in a smaller group setting at 5:30 p.m. on four different dates: Nov. 4, 11, 18, and Dec. 2.

We will gather for dinner in the community room off the main entrance. Watch for an email for your resident’s date! Each resident will be encouraged to invite two guests.

Due to COVID precautions, additional guests cannot be accommodated. If you are an invitee and you feel ill on the day of the event, please don’t attend. u

Lorri Waldron’s first job was working weekends at a residential care home when she was a highschool student. As the new sales and marketing director at Rolla Presbyterian Manor, she is returning to a field she loves.

Lorri earned a degree in psychology while she was an office and service manager at their family-owned automotive shop in Rolla before working at Missouri S&T for eight years, mostly as a communications specialist. Lorri has accrued nine years of experience in the independent and assisted living Marketing director – continued on page 2

industry, a field that appealed to her because she liked helping people through transitions in their lives. Most recently, she has been a quality assurance contractor for the state of Missouri, ensuring the health and safety of the aging population.

Lorri is a longtime resident of the Rolla area and has known of Rolla Presbyterian Manor in part because her sons played ball on the ball fields next door, and she enjoyed walking her Great Dane with her daughter along the park trails that border the community.

Consequently, she understands the challenges individuals and families face when dealing with issues around health and aging.

“I just like to help people find a solution when they aren’t sure what’s next,” she said. “I find that rewarding.”

Lorri has three children and nine grandchildren, most of whom live in the Rolla area. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family,

gardening, making quilts for family and friends, searching for unique antiques and spending time with her Great Dane Pongo.

Her Christian faith is important to her, and Lorri feels her new position at Presbyterian Manor is part of God’s purpose for her life.

“I really look forward to helping families find the right place for their loved ones at Presbyterian Manor as they go through the various stages of life’s journey,” she said. u

“I’ve always heard good things about Presbyterian Manor,” Lorri said. “It’s a faith-based organization, and that’s important to me.”

When Lorri was in middle school, her grandmother came to live with her family after she had a fall.

Later, her brother suffered a traumatic brain injury that resulted in paraplegia.

Celebrating our Veterans On Nov. 11, the U.S. celebrates the men and women who have served our country through military service.

On this Veteran’s Day, we at Rolla Presbyterian Manor are extra thankful for the veterans who are our neighbors and coworkers. This year, we’re highlighting three members of our community who each spent time in military service.

Resident Bill Cassatt served in the Army for three years before joining the Air Force in 1965. As a child, he was a self-described “army brat” who started school in Austria and graduated in Germany.

He began his Air Force service as a cryptographer before his title shifted

to communications specialist. Bill, who served through 1984, was in the service during a time of great technological advance, and he later went back to school for computer programming.

Bill’s military career took him all over the world, including Japan, where he was stationed for a time. He also spent more than eight years working out of the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. “I’ve seen a lot of history,” said Bill, whose work was often classified.

Bill recently returned from a convention of the Air Force Cyberspace and Air Traffic Control Association, which was held in Gulfport, Miss., near Keesler Air Force Base.

Resident Joseph Staten also had a long tenure in the military: He served in the Army from 1965-85. He spent eight years as a drill sergeant, for which he won a couple of awards. For the balance of his time in the service, Joseph was an army engineer.

“I liked the regimented nature of it,” he said. “And I liked the travel, and the different people you got to meet over there. You can learn a lot from being in the service.

Like Bill, Joseph was stationed all over the world, and some of his favorite memories are from his time stationed in Alaska. He also spent time stationed in Korea.

In his free time, he saw the Eiffel Tower in Paris and caught a bullfight in Madrid, among many other sights in Germany and around Europe. Once, he even caught part of the Tour de France.
