Six local artists among Art is Ageless® masterpiece level winners Six winning artists in Newton Presbyterian Manor’s annual Art is Ageless® juried competition will be featured in the 2023 Art is Ageless calendar produced by PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®). “Fallen Leaves,” a Mixed Media/Crafts entry by Arlys Deckert, “Booker’s Oops,” a Painting entry by Joey Giblin, and “Sunday at Grandma’s,” a Painting entry by Carol Zerger, will appear in the calendar when it is released this fall.

Works by local winners are automatically entered into a masterpiece level competition with winning art from 14 other PMMA® communities. More than 170 entries were received for this year’s masterpiece competition. The winners are featured in the Art is Ageless calendar with pull-out postcards and greeting cards. “In the Mood,” a Mixed Media/Crafts entry by Betty Duffy Eller, will be featured on the pull-out postcards included in the 2023 calendar. “Full Moon,” a Drawing entry by Betty Duffy Eller, and “COVID Consternation,” a Quilting entry by Margo Schrag, will be included in the calendar’s honorable mention gallery. “Church in the Wildwood,” a Christmas entry by Rita Patterson, will be featured on Art is Ageless greeting cards. “We are honored to exhibit artwork by seniors,” said Emily Trask, executive director. “Art is Ageless is unique in featuring only the works of senior artists. Community welcomes Tina Jehner as new human resources director When Newton Presbyterian Manor announced it had hired Tina Jehner as its new human resources director back in May, the process Tina Jehner, was a little more human resources unusual than director normal. She got the job without ever actually applying for it. “I actually applied for a recruiter position in the home office, but they thought I’d be a good fit for the position here,” said Tina. Tina had worked for the state of Kansas for 16 years where she began her career in human resources and eventually climbed the ranks to become human resources manager. The position was not only a great fit professionally, but geographically as well. “I live in El Dorado, so it’s a straight shot over here—except when the cows get out…that slows me down,” said Tina. In her new role, Tina is primarily involved in employee recruitment which she says has provided her with a great introduction to the inner workings of the community. “I’m the first point of contact for new employees at the Manor,” said Tina. “That carries all of the way through
