“We lived in LeSueur, Minn., from when I was 2 until I was 10. That really set my expectation of how much snow you should have in the wintertime for the rest of my life,” Stephanie says. “I have many fond memories of things we did in the snow, but there are a couple that really stand out. Marketing Director Stephanie Oehlert The winter I was 8 years old, we had a particularly bad snow storm. I was spending the night at a friend’s house. It snowed so much that we couldn’t go out the front door. We lost electricity, but my friend’s parents had all kinds of fun activities to keep us busy. Her mom taught us to make butter with a churn. Her Dad helped us build a snow fort that had to be the biggest and best snow fort I have ever helped build to this day. It had several rooms and tunnels. We wanted to live in it! As luck would have it, my friend’s dad drove a snow plow, so when my parents weren’t able to get me, I rode home in the snow plow. That was such a fun couple of days that I will always remember. “Another big snowstorm that really stood out was one when my brother and I went downstairs in the morning to find that our patio doors had blown open and everything in our living room was covered in snow. It was a winter wonderland in our living room! We thought it was the coolest thing ever, but I’m sure my parents didn’t think so. One amazing thing was that my baby sister’s room was on that level of the house and my mom was so worried when we found all of the snow. But, the door to her room was closed. Her room was still nice and toasty warm, and she was fine.”
