Mum had time for everyone, she was always helping other people, she always saw the good in someone. My mum was my best friend, she was always worried about me when I joined the army but she was proud of me and supported me. Over the years we have spent many special times together, I am proud of everything she has done for those living here and in Jamaica and to have had the honour of calling her my mum.
Marva(Daughter)
Mum was truly one in a million and I can honestly say I am blessed to have the honour of calling her mum. She was my rock, my teacher, my friend, my councillor, my Busy Bee the list goes on and there are not enough words to say what an amazing, caring lady she was. She was an independent, determined, selfless, stubborn, straight-talking lady with a direct often razor-sharp tongue and a wicked sense of humour that always put others before herself which I will miss.
Mum has left me with so many lovely memories from listening to her sing hymns, not quite to choir standard in the kitchen on Sundays whilst cooking enough food to feed the whole street for our extended family Sunday dinners to regularly buying me our favourite flowers, lilies to going on a cruise as part of her wish list type of holidays. The night when the sea was really, really rough and she said whilst doing her renowned white eye roll ‘Yuh should be careful wah yuh wish for di sea nearly fling mi outta di bed’. We laughed so much that night until our stomach ached. I will miss mum dearly but her guidance, teaching, wonderful memories and the comfort I have in knowing mum
Over the years we shared a sisterly bond one of laughter and tears particularly on the passing of two very close family members. They were some of the deepest and darkest challenges in our lives. We shared advice, encouragement, pain and laughter during our lives. To name but a few examples, prior to her becoming a foster parent, we began taking driving lessons. We also discussed money, health issues, work, etc. For years we enjoyed Sunday dinner with her and my girls at her home. l looked up to her as my big sister. Louise dedicated years of being our mother’s main caregiver, while being a friend and supporter to me and many others. Louise, l miss your laughter and the time that we shared together. l am extremely happy that we recently enjoyed breakfast in bed while l gave you jokes. I am writing this commemoration in honour of our relationship. You have achieved so much in your life. Like Sleeping Beauty, my sister rest your weary head until the day our Fete align.

To my dearest sister I miss you so much but inside me I hold you special for time.

Louise was a very special lady who touched the hearts and lives of many. Louise was more than my mother-in-law, she was my second mum who was always willing to give unconditional love and support. I am very privileged to be a part of her very special family. I will always cherish the special family times spent with Louise, the family Sunday lunches, Christmases and of course Louise’s special Christmas cakes. Louise worked tirelessly and always put others first. I will be externally grateful for the love and support that Louise gave myself, Marva and the children. She will be sadly missed. Rest in Peace.
