GillianAnderson(Sister)

You are my brother, like no other. A friend, defender, adviser and confidant. You'll know what you meant to me, in every sense, head and shoulders above all other men. You faced many challenges, but remained close to the Lord. When you felt weary, deflated, frustrated or in pain, I was in your corner always cheering you on. I am proud as can be to call you my brother. I hope one day I'll mature to become just like you Clive. All my love, your 'baby' sister. Gillian XX

Uncle Clive, the climbing frame. My earliest memories of you are climbing up all over you. Sometimes swinging from your neck, a child-sized medallion. I wasn’t a small child either! Still, you let my brothers and I do this whilst you wore the biggest smile. Childhood was filled with special moments punctuated by your influence. You’ve passed on your love of music, martial arts and computer games. What resonates the most is your genuine love of people and the passion you ignited in friends, family and wider circles to be their best. We continue to honour your legacy which remains within us all as your nephews as time goes on. Rest in peace.

Farewell my dearest friend. I recall the journey of our lives and the pain you left behind at the hearing of your passing. I met a good friend, one with strong arms that held me up during our reign as District Youth & C E Directors of Sheffield & Wood Green Districts. It pains me to even contemplate putting pen to paper. I miss you. Together we soldiered through our

National Youth & C E Conventions known as the NTCG Bouncers, as we ushered delegates into service on a Sunday morning. My dear friend you had a heart that loves and cares. When I saw your smile I knew my friend had my back and the tasks would be met. There was never a dull moment with you my friend and the love we shared as ‘Brothers in Christ’. I will remember your open door and a bed to lay my head. My dearest friend, you will never die, you are now with the biblical Patriarchs. You certainly fought a good fight, you have run your race well, but most of all your life was a testimony that Jesus Christ saves and keeps and satisfies. You have kept the faith, so my friend, wear your crown of righteousness well. My condolences, prayers and support to your ‘Rock’ in this life, your wonderful wife (Milly). You did choose well my friend. So to the entire Anderson’s family, I miss you, remain strong.

Clive

Caring and loving into this world you were sent, but not to stay

Living and giving was the way your world went, day by day

Infectious character sowing kindness and peace, it was your way

Valiantly sailing on through life’s stormy sea, you would pray

Encouragingly and enthusiastically for the cause of Christ, your trumpet you’d play

Clive loved God with a passion and had a heart for those who did not know Jesus. He has now gone to meet the Lord. Rest in peace Clive till we meet at Jesus’ feet.

In paying tribute to my colleague and friend Clive of over 30 years, I am so thankful to have had the opportunity of the friendship and love of a most sincere, genuine and warm-hearted person. His infectious smile would brighten up any room. This gentle giant was a caring and generous soul. He and Milly opened their home to me whilst I studied at Sheffield University Urban Theology Unit many years ago.

He was indeed a servant leader, a person of humility who worked very closely with me when I served as National Director of Youth & Christian Education. Under his leadership, the Sheffield District Youth movement grew from strength to strength and flourished becoming a model movement for the Nation. I will always hold him fondly in my heart and cherish those precious moments and memories.

Bringing my tribute to its conclusion, I close with a poem written by David Harkins: "You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him, or you can be full of the love that you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone, or you can cherish his memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on”. Sleep on my beloved Clive, sleep and take your rest. Love you my brother.

I will always remember Clive from his visits to Jamaica, especially when he helped Valda to put on a surprise 40th birthday party for me. We also had some good times and talks when we visited England. He was always jovial and comfortable to be around. Even our children liked to be with him as he would always be playing around with them. He was a cool, calm, gentle man of God. Even during his sick days, I never heard him complaining and up to the last weeks, though he was unable to speak he was making lip movements to say hello. He will certainly be missed, but to Valda and family remember we will meet again someday.

AvrilGolden(Cousin)

I will never forget the first time I met my cousin Clive. He was beautiful in so many ways. He and Carol came to Jamaica to visit and I believe I pretty much followed him around all day long just to hear him speak. I felt so special knowing we were related. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. We will meet again in the new Jerusalem.
