TRIBUTES

Cynthia,Godfrey,Noel&SoniaPalmer (Cousins)

Clive has always been part of the family from when he first started dating Milly (affectionately known to us as Valda) who lived with us after our dad passed away. We have lived side by side, more like brothers and sisters rather than cousins, and we were with Milly at the hospital when Clive had his first illness 21 years ago. “It was a privilege and an honour to be one of his carers during the last 6 months. He has fought a good fight and finished his course”, says Cynthia. “I will never forget you Humph, RIEP”, says Godfrey. “Clive Anderson AKA Humphrey, you will be missed forever, rest in peace”, says Noel. “I will always remember going to Nuneaton and Clive being able to drive me to the supermarket to get some supplies after getting the all-clear to be able to drive again”, says Sonia. We all concur “you were our gentle giant, we loved you well but Jesus loves you best, good night”

On behalf of my family, we are deeply saddened by the passing of my beloved nephew Clive Anderson. As a servant of the Lord Jesus our God, we maintain the confidence that you are dwelling in his everlasting arms. Huby and I reminisce on the times that you would visit us in Jamaica whenever it was convenient for you. Though I was able to attend the funeral of your father, it pains me that I am unable to attend your funeral due to conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although I won’t be able to physically see you one last time, I continue to paint mental pictures in my heart of the times I spent with you my dear nephew. A pure soul and a true soldier, we remember you for the spirit you carried. The Powis family reach out to your family and all relatives who are now mourning. Let us be encouraged by the word of the Lord - Psalm 147 verse 3, ‘God heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds’. As our hearts mourn, we have faith that the Lord will comfort us during this time. To my beloved nephew, may God bless you and may your soul rest in perfect peace. We love you.

Clive wasn’t my son-in-law, he was my buddy. I moved to Sheffield into their family home in 2017 and our bond grew stronger. He supported me during the day while Milly was at work, and I will always love and respect him for that. Even when he struggled he would help me. He would play dominos with me even when he didn’t want to, and would be my solo audience when I wanted to play my guitar. I will miss him dearly. Our home will never be the same.

Not many of us are blessed to have a family member like Clive Anderson. Clive lights the room up when he enters. You will laugh just because he is laughing. His spirit is calming and peaceful. When Clive loves you, you know it, and he loves his family. Clive, although you are physically no longer with us, our memories of you will last forever. As you take your rest from the toils of this earthly life, we know you are not far from us. When the rays of the sun brighten up the room, we will know that you are with us. When we see a butterfly flying high in the sky, we will know that you are with us. When we hear the birds singing outside our window, we will think of you. We will think of your smile, your quiet but powerful spirit. Our cousin, our nephew, and our brother in Christ, your family in America will miss you dearly, travel on Clive, travel on.
