Greetings, Redwood City!
My name is Tiarra Warner, and I am honored to serve as the new Director of Parks, Recreation & Community Services. After spending most of my life and career in Southern California, it has been a true joy to get to know this department and the incredible community we serve. I have deeply enjoyed learning the stories, traditions, and people that make this city such a special place.

Summer has always held a special place in my heart. As a child, summer day camp was where I learned confidence, teamwork, and belonging, and the camp counselors who showed up for me each day played a crucial role in shaping who I am today. That experience is a big part of why I believe so strongly in the power of parks and recreation programs to positively impact communities.
Our parks, programs, and community spaces are more than amenities, they are places where relationships are built, creativity is encouraged, and lifelong memories are made. Every day, our dedicated staff work to create safe, welcoming, and enriching experiences for our community.
Whether you’re enrolling a child in camp, attending a summer event, enjoying public art, or simply spending time outdoors, we hope you feel the care, joy, and intention behind everything we do. Thank you for welcoming me, and I look forward to a summer full of connection, laughter, and community.
With appreciation, Tiarra Warner

Special care is taken to connect participants with someone who shares similar life-experiences and perspectives, with programs offered in languages such as English, Mandarin, Spanish, and Tagalog, and to participants who identify as LGBTQ. Peer counselors meet with participants via telephone, zoom or when possible in person. For more information contact Peer Counseling at 650-403-4300 ask for OneTouch Program (Online Class)

Imagine a world where you could invent a gadget to solve your own problems. That world is not as far off as it seems. Come spend a week designing and creating a cardboard prototype for a mechanical device that meets all of your individual needs while learning new creativity techniques to tackle challenges in your everyday life.
Do your pencils and notebooks constantly get lost in your backpack or locker?
Does cold air make your eyes water when you go out running in the winter?
Or do none of these tivialities relate to you. What you really need is a ...battery powered flying alarm clock... By going through simple creativity exercises, you will unleash a wealth of ideas that help you realize an object that perfectly fits your specific needs. Campers should bring a water bottle, a snack and lunch.

We create game situations that will allow campers to improve their skills while having a lot of fun.
Most campers at our Development Academy have been playing soccer for 1-3 years or more. The camp format dedicates the morning session to technique training and developing skills that will help players perform at the next level. We emphasize games, strategies, and tactical understanding of match situations in the afternoon.

Our coaches are well trained and will provide a camp that is fun and challenging at every level of play. To ensure proper training our coach to player ratio is 1: 12 or less. All fees include a T-Shirt, an evaluation, and a memento. Campers please bring daily: Shin guards, Soccer cleats or tennis shoes (no spikes), Soccer ball, Sunscreen, Snack, Refillable Water Bottle, and a Great Attitude. Full day campers, please bring lunch. CAMP IS TWO WEEKS
With Bair Island Aquatic Center www.gobair.org
GRADE: 6-8
Come enjoy the waters of the Bair Island wetlands from a solo boat. This camp is a great way for middle schoolers to be outside in a safe way while learning a new sport. If you are tired of looking at a screen, come try a kayak, stand up paddle board or rowing. Learn a new sport (or improve your skills) while learning how to read the water, wind and tide and how to safely boat and navigate our local waters. This is a fun class in a beautiful location. Campers need to bring a towel and water bottle; and sign the BIAC waiver. Participants must bring their own personal floatation device (PFD) if they have one. We have some available, if needed.
