Am Always With You When I am gone, release me, let me go.

I have so many things to see and do, You mustn’t tie yourself to me with too many tears, But be thankful we had so many good years.

I gave you my love, and you can only guess How much you’ve given me in happiness.

I thank you for the love that you have shown, But now the Lord has called me home.

So grieve for me a while, if grieve you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust, That it is only for a while that we must part, So treasure the memories within your heart.

And then, when the Lord calls you home, I’ll greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home”.

Wendel C. Bowen was born on November 17, 1965 in Clarendon Jamaica. He began his education in Jamaica before moving to Ohio and attending Cleveland Public Schools. In 1980 he moved to Twinsburg Ohio where he graduated from R. B. Chamberlin High School in 1984. Wendel excelled at football, however an unfortunate injury did not allow him to continue to play. After graduation, Wendel left Twinsburg and headed for the west coast.

Wendel returned home in 1998 when his mother faced a devastating illness. Despite Wendel’s absence for the past 14 years, he was there for his mother when he was most needed.

Wendel was generally very protective of his family.

Wendel accepted Christ while at the Salvation Army in 1992 at a low point in his life. Wendel admitted that without direction, he strayed from Christian values and returned to a not so Christian life. While in the hospital, Wendel reaffirmed his love for Christ.

Wendel worked with computers in a personal business and during the last year of his life he worked as a cable installer with Time Warner.

In 2014 Wendel’s teeth began to give him trouble.

Beginning in February, Wendel was in and out of medical facilities. After more than a month’s stay at Cleveland Clinic, on Wednesday June 17, 2015, Wendel took his last breath, and entered into the presence of Lord’s.

Wendel’s older sister Claudette Flemming Johnson (Robert), preceded him in death. Wendel leaves to mourn his passing his mother Mersadie Bowen, sister Arlene Bowen and dear friend Yolanda “Candy” Matlock. Wendel also had 2 nieces Nicole Johnson and her children Shane & Shaun, Melissa Smith (Thomas), 3 step siblings, Selma Bowen, June Bowen, and Dawn Bowen, his God-Children, Canice Matlock, ElDwight Thomas Jr., Jon Matlock, and host of other relatives
