These energy ventures require design changes as well; else no amount of energy would be sufficient. Ecological design entails an approach where the core consideration is given to the environmental impacts of the product during its whole lifecycle. The life cycle of a product is usually divided into production, procurement, manufacture, use and disposal. In India, there is a need for a national legislation on the environmental performance of energy related products through ecological design because given a European Union directive, very soon Indian products might face obstacles in its trade with EU. The fact remains that both in the short run as well in the long run ecodesign benefits both businesses and consumers.
