The Florida Holocaust Museum Announces New Board Members The FHM adds community leaders to Board of Directors March 10, 2020 [St. Petersburg, FL] - The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM) elects two new members to the Museum's Board of Directors, Dr. Tonjua Williams and Irv Cohen. Enhancing students' access, success and the quality of their experiences are the most treasured values of Dr. Tonjua Williams who became the seventh president of St. Petersburg College in 2017. Nationally recognized as an expert in transforming departments and institutions through student development and strategic planning, she has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout her 31-year career as a leader in post-secondary education. Most recently she won the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development's leadership award and was named one of the top 25 women in higher education by Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Under her leadership, St. Petersburg College was named sixth best among public and private colleges in Florida, according to U.S. News and World Report's 2020 study. That same study ranked SPC at number 17 among the top 84 public schools in the southern region, which is comprised of 12 states. "In our complex and ever-changing world, we need to create a community of care that ties us together, builds a strong society, and is focused on the common good for all. Social justice has and will always be key to creating a community where all can learn, grow, work and play. Our communities must come together. Be agile. Be accommodating. Be creative. This is why I am proud to be a member of The Florida Holocaust Museum's Board of Directors because I know that educating future generations is the most effective way to promote social justice for all and ensure that atrocities such as the Holocaust never happen again," said Williams.
