Hello! I am Pranayita Myadam.

Originally an Architect and Interior Designer, I am now fascinated by the world of Multidisciplinary Design and Experiential Design.

Often inspired by the vast cultures in the world, while also learning about neuro-aesthetics and colour theory.

1 Neo - Residence April - September 2020

The present scenario has forced us to spend a considerable amount of time at home making us look at our spaces in a new light and the need to personally relate to them is now more than ever. Neo Residence is designed to acknowledge this need while addressing it in an ironic manner.

Preliminary ideas were developed along with groupmates, Shravani Reddy M. and Huang Mou Chen, and Design was done individually.

Study to determine overarching theme: A balance between the inside & outside to satisfy the persona’s conflicting requirements.

Various courtyard shapes were explored with a fixed boundary to express the persona the best.

Form Development

Parabolic Roof slopes towards the centre with an elliptical cut-out

The space created is unique and dynamic, as there is an elliptical courtyard being placed within rectangular bounds and the boxes are aligned at an angle , creating Irregular Spaces.

To further accomodate activites and privacy, a second smaller courtyard is introduced to compliment the main courtyard.

Themes such as playing with visual and physical connections, safe spaces for pandemics and blurred boundaries between inside-outside are explored.

The house mirrors itself through the courtyard. Contrast between the orthogonal shape of the boundary wall and the elliptical courtyard give a feeling of being enveloped within the space. Depending on the need, sliding doors can be opened or closed to create new spatial groups temporarily. During pandemics, this allows for safe transition zones between rooms without risk.

Significance of the Roof: The section is a parabola with a cutout in the centre. The roof slopes towards the courtyard further accentuating its prominence.

Axonometric View

Interior Axonometry and View: The Dining is placed in this“Irregular Space” formed by the boxes with the Kitchen and Bar overlooking the courtyard. The flow between these spaces is preserved while each function has its own designated area.

Connecting Dots September 2019

Six thousand five hundred languages and still there are many emotions and thoughts left unsaid. In this situation verbal language is not the issue but the lack of interaction between two human psyches.

The intention is to create a visual language and system based on colors and hand gestures to break the emotional barrier that will help us connect and eventually communicate to lead an authentic human life.

How it Works: The Pod senses the emotional and mental attributes of the person inside through a biosensor and reflects these attributes through a color-coded pixelation that is projected on the exterior of the pod.

Connecting Emotions Pods with similar colours/energies are drawn towards each other essentially forming a connection which may also influence nearby pods.

In this way the overall emotion of a city or area may be displayed and this can help solve underlying issues.

The aim of this proposal is to create a space to protect and re-discover the essence of being human and show that humanity and technology co-exist without losing either.

3 Mount Hereafter October 2020

As we march towards the inevitable scarcity of life on Earth, many of us have already started designing the future of interplanetary inhabitation. Our telescope, however, points towards the tomorrow beyond human success, a point in time and space where nature is no longer dominated, but ruling.

This was the final stage of the Virtual Entities workshop, and the resulting outcome is a performance space concealed within a barren mountain. Group work with Idrees Kasu, Ligia Filgueiras, Matheus Stancati and Stuti Bindlish.

What is the future beyond the future? What will happen when post-apocalypse strikes and our conventional habitats and technologies on land are no longer able to support us?

This design aims at exploring alternative habitats at non-conventional locations.

The aim of this project is to gradually showcase a trajectory that celebrates both past and future.

Outer Shell

The Tree of Life The main entity in this mountain is the Tree of life, that is the life force and the gravitational force for this piece of planet. The elements of the tree are a fusion between organic and discrete, almost unnatural but still maintains its identity as a tree.

The base of the tree was initially sculpted in Maya, the geometry then used as the mould for the roots, vines and branches generated using Grasshopper.

The “leaves” are a cluster of biotic elements pulsing with light. It was scultped on Zbrush. The wisps of light give a very ethereal atmosphere.

The tree acts as a grounding element and signifies nature adapting and reclaiming the land post destruction of the man-made world.

The space between the twin trunks serves as a portal to the performance area.

The plan showcases the entry points and circulation of the inner space highlighted. These pathways lead you to a portal of introspection.

The journey to the tree of life is a sensory experience that allows for a progression of opportunities of reflection as one moves through a series of caves and tunnels and envisions a reality in which conventional habitats and technologies are no longer at play.

4 Urban Oasis February - March 2020

To create an Urban Eco-System for birds & bees to thrive in while limiting human interference, encouraging Co-existential Symbiosis between species and place a Sustainable Environment in the midst of a dense urbanscape.

The initial conceptual stage was done with a groupmate, Jieun Cha and the proposal was carried out individually on respective sites.

To Bee or not to Bee? According to FAO, as a pollinator, bees & birds • Responsible for 80% of flowering plant species and 35% of the world’s crop production • Preserve Biodiversity and wild plant growth in cities.

Kukje Gallery by SO-IL and Aviary (London Zoo 1963) by Cedric Price used as material and form references.

Concept: Nested Sanctuary A tent form is chosen to unite the 3 rooftops, while gradually creating a vertical connection and hierarchy between the levels. This further encourages the concept of “Free Flight” for the birds and bees. Bees thrive the best when placed at the highest level and due to heat island effect.

The levels form a kind of stairway to the highest tower, making the parasitic architecture more gradual. Certain zones allow human interaction with the species while others are off-limits. The levels allow a dynamic flow of space.
