Whether it’s a teacher who inspires students to be their best, a kid who shovels the driveway for their elderly neighbors or a company that donates services, time and products to the community, there’s no shortage of local heroes in our community.
MyWindsor’ s Hometown Hero feature is a way to recognize and thank the people and companies who strive to make our community better through their time, talents, generosity and kindness.

“Wow, that was 21 years ago now It doesn’t feel like that should be the case We have new folks that are not 21 years old; they were born after I started so that makes it interesting,” Morse said, laughing. “I don’t feel old enough to be doing something for 21 years ”
While most young adults can’t wait to get out of their hometown, Morse, who grew up in the Windsor-Severance area, wanted to serve his community

This month’s Hometown Hero feature highlights Windsor-Severance Fire Rescue Lt. Erik Morse. Morse, who has been with the WindsorSeverance Fire Rescue for 21 years, started out with the department in 2001 as a volunteer after graduating from the Fire Academy at Aims
“It’s really cool to be able to serve the community I grew up in and see the people that I knew my friends’ parents and those kinds of things,” Morse said “Not everybody has that history There’s a few others like me who went to Windsor High School and graduated and are now in the department It’s cool to have that connection.”
While he currently serves as a lieutenant, Morse has worked in many positions within the fire rescue including engineer and firefighter
“In 2014 I was promoted to

lieutenant so I am firmly implanted in middle management. I am in charge of an engine and we have A shift, B shift and C shift, and they work 48-hours on and 96-hours off,” Morse explained. “On each of those fire engines is a lieutenant That’s the person who is in charge of the engine and we sit in the passenger’s seat in the front ”
While he enjoys all aspects of working with the fire rescue, Morse does miss his days as a firefighter
“It’s cool to be able to just mentally prepare for the call that you are going to while you ’ re driving there and then as soon as the air brake goes off, you open the door and go to work,” he explained. “But, driving the fire truck has got to be the coolest job ”
In his current role as a lieutenant, Morse has gotten to expand his leadership skills
“Now I have people that report to me and I am their direct supervisor. So, I’m more in the performance and growth and management of people How do I get my people to make sure they want to promote; how do I do the right things and how are we doing the right things,” he said.
From water rescues and rescuing a horse from a ditch to natural disasters and medical emergencies, every day brings new experiences for Morse and his crew
“Probably my favorite part of the job is when somebody calls us because they’ve exhausted all their options. Whether they fell, had a fire, been in a car accident, whatever it is, and they’ve exceeded their scope of how to handle it,” Morse said “I love the tones going off and never knowing what that’s going to be. It’s a mystery ”

hen it comes to clothes shopping, nding a store that offers a good setion of different styles, colors and s can be a challenge, especially for women
It’s that challenge that drives Megan Sitzman, owner of Country Glitz Boutique, to provide “head to toe” fashion for women of all ages and body types.
Sitzman originally started selling clothing online and at events using her home as the showroom/stockroom.
“This will be my ninth year, but I started out really small after I had my daughter. I started out doing shows and then it moved into going to country music festivals,” she explained “It just grew and my husband was like, ‘ you ’ re taking up our whole house ’ So this space became available and I have been here one year. ”
Don’t let the store’s use of “boutique” cause you to take pause You’re not going to see typical boutique price tags

“The biggest thing that sets us apart from everybody else is the prices. I used to be a distributor for a lot of boutiques, especially in Texas, so when you come in, you’ll see I have a ton of product,” Sitzman said. “We have the exact same quality as high-priced boutiques, but most of our items, like a t-shirt, you can get from $15 to $30 All of our dresses are in the $20 and $30 range and we have a $10 clearance rack.”
While Sitzman loves the “glitz and glamour” of country styles, the store carries a range of items that complement anyone ’ s fashion preferences including boho, classic and casual
The store’s pink v-neck frilled tiered flowy mini dress can be paired with cowboy boots or sling-back heels, while the black faux leather high-waist flare pants can be rocked at a concert with a fun t-shirt or combined with one of Country Glitz’s satin button down shirts for an elegant dinner date outfit
Along with lots of items to choose from and prices that won’t break the bank, Country Glitz Boutique carries a large range of sizes from extra small up to plus sizes.
“I would say 85% of all of our designs go up to 2X All of our jeans go up to extra-large which is a size 22,” Sitzman said “We really have a wide range of sizes ”
Walking into the front door, customers are greeted with clothing options geared toward whatever holiday may be coming up.
“We have a ton of stuff constantly and it changes We already have all of our St. Patrick’s Day stuff in and Mardi Gras,” Sitzman said.
Customers looking for festive Val-
entine’s Day apparel won’t have any problems finding something at Country Glitz Boutique From heartemblazoned sweaters and glittery pink and red camis to dangly earrings and Valentine’s Day-inspired jeans, the store has a wide variety of clothing options for yourself or to give as gifts
Looking for an outfit for date night, girls night out or just as a treat for yourself?
Country Glitz Boutique sells hats, shoes, jewelry and other accessories to complete your look
“You can come in and get a full headto-toe outfit for around $100 hat, shirt, jeans and shoes,” Sitzman said
Customer service is a top priority for Sitzman and her crew, so if you need help shopping for something for yourself or for a gift, staff is more than willing to jump in and give suggestions
“My staff, I would really say, shine in that, especially Rachel and Tessa,” Sitzman said “They’re the most downto-earth team, so when you come in, there’s no judgment ”
That “self-love” vibe extends into the store’s dressing room with an inspirational saying painted on the wall surrounded by butterflies and soft welcoming lighting.
“I always tell my daughter that you need to talk to yourself like you do somebody you love; don’t bully yourself,” Sitzman said “And that is one thing that we emphasize here ”
Sitzman recently added a children’s clothing area to the store, featuring a variety of dresses, tiny flannel shirts, jeans, backpacks, hair accessories, shoes and more The store offers outfits for both boys and girls ranging in sizes from newborn up to tweens
“I didn’t used to do kids stuff when I was online only, but when I took over this space, it used to be a kids’ boutique I was noticing

leans into Windsor’s past to offer an elegant event space
Brandon Ribble wants to make sure no one has the kind of wedding he did In fact, the northern Colorado realtor believes so strongly in magical wedding moments that he built The Mill Event Venue adjacent to The Windsor Mill complex on Main Street. It opened in August 2020
The venue is a place out of time, with muted rose-washed bricks, elegant
chandeliers and vintagestyle arched windows that allow light to stream into the multi-purpose space
“The wedding I had felt corporate and rushed It didn’t feel special,” Ribble explained.
In addition to the venue space, which accommodates up to 150 people for seated events or standing cocktail-centric events for up to 220 people, the rental is unique because it
includes day-long access to the Bridal House, a fourbedroom, two bathroom renovated home dating to the early 1900s.
“The Bridal House allows you the opportunity to spend your day with the people who matter most to you, and nothing is rushed There is access from 8 a m to 11 p m , with space for both the groomsmen and the bridesmaids to get ready,” he said “There is also an all-season patio and backyard.”
Since opening, The Mill has hosted approximately 150 events each year. Weddings have been the majority; the rest include baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties and corporate events
The space was part of the original Windsor Mill,

a flour and feed mill dating to 1899 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places The mill was in active use until 1990 And after being damaged by the 2008 tornado that whipped through Windsor,
the Mill’s new owners were in the process of an over $3 million revitalization when it was nearly destroyed in a fire in August 2017, according to Colorado Preservation, Inc The fire was determined to be arson

After the owners reconstructed most of the building, when he was brought into the picture in 2019, Ribble said his venue was the final piece of the puzzle It complements the restored building’s two restaurants, Cacciatore, an Italian eatery, and Windsor Mill Tavern, both of which retain elements of the original mill because they were constructed of stone and brick On the east end of the reconstructed building is the brewery Peculier Ales, which is also new construction
Combined, the property has evolved into an ideal spot for a destination

“The whole idea was to make our venue feel like the original, so we brought in the brick and steel to give it the sense that it hadn’t been touched When we came into the project there was only the framework so we had creative freedom to finalize what the rest of the building was going to look like But it had to fit well with the historical time frame. We wanted to blend in, honor that and not stand out like a sore thumb,” Ribble said.
If you had to describe it, it’s modern industrial with a sense of blending into the past
“It beautifully collides an industrial look with an upscale wedding feel,” he said, pointing to craftsmanstyle farm tables, matching wood cross-back chairs, soaring ceilings and elegant iron lighting.
“The wood touches from the tables and chairs soften the space so it doesn’t feel so masculine,” Ribble said, referring to the predominantly brick walls. “And people can bring their own decorations
to make it their own for the day flowers, trees, additional lighting as long as there isn’t an open flame ”
Some of the most unique events the venue has seen to date have been multipleday weddings and a fourday national conference.
“The conference rental was 72-hours long with eight-hour breaks, it was party after party for four days straight They used the same caterer for the evening events and a different one for lunches,” he recalled
The venue has a preferred vendors list for caterers, florists, hair stylists, DJs and more, but renters can bring their own vendors, as long as caterers are licensed and insured. If there is a bar for the event, The Mill provides
an array of non-alcoholic beverages, including juices to craft mocktails. But there isn’t a requirement that alcohol be served at your event. If no alcohol is offered, the venue charges $1,000 to supply an Italian soda bar with servers.
Pricing depends on whether the event is corporate, non-profit or private.
Corporate and non-profit rates have a $2,500 minimum and depending on needs and preferences the price goes up from there Private events scheduled Monday through Thursday are priced at $5,000, while Friday rentals are $6,000, and Saturday’s cost $7,000. Wedding rates include all-day rental of the Bridal House next door to the main event space
Wedding parties may access the main event space at noon and can party until lights out at 10 p m , allowing for one hour of clean up and complying with the town of Windsor’s noise ordinance.

Celebrating love on Valentine’s Day Wellness: TO
Aromantic at heart, I count Valentine’s Day as one of my favorite celebrations and I love to celebrate the holiday in a special way.
The history of Valentine’s Day shows that it was celebrated with romantic love in mind. According to one legend, St Valentine sent out
the first valentine greeting while in prison. It is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl, who may have been his jailer’s daughter. The girl would visit him during his confinement. Before his death, Valentine wrote her a letter which he signed “From Your Valentine”. While it is believed that St. Valentine was

Love takes on various forms and plays a significant part in our lives. Without love, people are sick mentally and physically and fail to thrive.
a martyr, it is still unclear as to who he was.
The first memories of Valentine’s Day typically begins at an early age with children making special cards to take to school and crafting a valentine’s box with pretty pink or red ribbons, bows and red and pink hearts. Little girls and boys give valentines to each of their classmates in hopes that they will be their special friend.
Valentine’s candies pink with red messages such as “Be Mine or “Will You Be My Valentine” are purchased and eaten for the fun of it all.
The impact of love in our lives
Love takes on various forms and plays a significant part in our lives. Without love, people are sick mentally and physically and fail to thrive. Children who are deprived of love
develop cognitive, physiological and mental impairment. Without love, we often feel a loss of self-esteem, a loss of self worth and a loss of self However, with love, we feel safe, cared for, esteemed, valued and whole. We feel a part of something that is larger than self.
Romantic love and its celebration binds us emotionally, spiritually and physically to our spouses and partners. Celebration of love happens every day: at airports with a kiss hello, in the driveway with a kiss goodbye, a hug that shows that special person that you care or a smile that melts your heart. No matter how you celebrate or show your love, it brings great joy
Even with this said, 50% to 60% of marriages fail and end up in divorce. So, how do we keep our relationships from failing?

LEAP can help heat YOUR home. LEAP puede ayudar a calentar SU casa.
• When you are looking for love, be emotionally ready for it
• Realize that love comes from the inside and not the outside
• Don't settle for just anyone because you don't want to be alone
To quote the song,“One” by Three Dog Night: “One is the loneliest number.” But, before you can love someone, you must love yourself first.
Other forms of love
Agape love is defined as unconditional love. This word was borrowed from the Greek word for “charity”. In biblical texts originally written in Greek, the word “agape” is used to imply any kind of selfless love, whether between human beings or between humans and God. An example of this would be the love between a mother and child
Agape love is the highest form of love, shows empathy, extends the desire for good of the beloved, wants the best, extends help and demonstrates good intentions.
Friendships are a blessing and a joy that should be treasured. They are important to us for our personal growth and success. Many of us have become fast friends with people from
work, in a nail salon, at a business meeting or workshop, or through social media.
Friends and mentors through work provide encouragement and support. They understand the need to vent as well as support and foster growth through good and bad times Friends and mentors help keep us moving forward
It is important to listen to our inner voice when choosing a friend, and not solely rely on intuition and/ or power of attraction.
Some things to look for when choosing friends include:
• Look for someone who has your same values
• Ask yourself if this person will respect your decisions and choices, even when it is different than theirs
• Look for dependability and commitment
• Communication is a power tool in any relationship
• Don’t take your friends for granted
• Most true friends will last over time and distance
Like an old Girl Scout song says: “Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver, one is gold”.
No matter how we celebrate our love towards others this Valentine’s Day, be joyful As long as we treasure our relationships of love, family and friends with intention, Valentine’s Day will always be with us

The future of a community lies in its youth. As elders pass on and leadership roles are handed down to the next generation, it’s the young people that will shape the future of a community as well as the nation.
Some of these young men and women are athletes and musicians, while others are making waves in the world of academics and community service. No matter what their achievements, they all help shape our community one way or another

This year, personalization and cozy glamour reign
Trends in bathroom design come and go, but for Mark Whaley, owner of Re-Bath Northern Colorado for more than 24 years, a few looks offer both an exciting refresh and timeless elegance. Here are five styles rising to the top in 2023, with thanks to Whaley and the design team at Re-Bath.
Light,notwhite,tones
Pale colors and finishes are eclipsing the all-white bathroom fad. Homeowners want softer colors that lend a lighter feel Pastels in earth-tones are center-stage. Re-Bath designers recommend yellow and khaki tones with calm blues or muted greens While monochromatic bathrooms may im-
bue tranquility, Our designers like to include a complementary shade or accent with a darker color, sparkling finish or unexpected pattern for visual interest
Decorative lighting
Lighting need not be merely utilitarian, Whaley said. “We can add

lighting of any sort anywhere you’d like an accent,” he said Chandeliers over the tub animate glamour, and pendant lights crowning the vanity and shower are strikingly practical Recessed and task lighting should highlight work areas or design elements Re-Bath designers help homeowners play with metallic finishes and tones to ensure a bright, functional, beautiful space
Mix and match tiles
There are no rules when it comes to tile, explained Re-Bath designers Mix a variety of geometric patterns or motifs for a stunning effect or pair tiles in harmonizing colors for pizzazz Textured tiles extend another layer of depth; consider mingling smooth tiles with rough pieces or mini-mosaics or try interspersing matte- and gloss-finished tiles.
Spa-like luxury
Thanks to technological advances, a luxury soaking tub or steam shower can provide a sumptuous, water-wise experi-
ence Whaley said some customers, desiring the ultimate morning wake-up, skip the tub in favor of an extra-roomy walk-in shower with intensive body sprays and rain spray heads Others gravitate toward the relaxation tub, featuring whirlpool jets, massage systems or cromatherapy Re-Bath designers customize unexpected treatments in the bath, from marble flooring and countertops to stone-surround showers, wood vanities and leather seating, to create an unparalleled spa-like atmosphere
Blend design trends for personalization
Whaley urged homeowners to meet with a bathroom designer before embarking on a remodel. “Trends depend on tastes,” he said “Here in Northern Colorado, we see a lot of modern, a lot of rustic and then a lot of everything in-between You need to decide what you love and find out who can deliver ” This year, many interior designers are blending elements from modern and rustic approaches to pull together a lay-
ered, cozy and uniquely tailored space
Re-Bath’s design team encouraged homeowners to incorporate a variety of materials, such as wood, stone and metal, but stick to a color palette for a unified, polished product Finally, they advised homeowners to bring character to the bath with personalized accessories, like artwork, built-in shower seats and whimsically-framed mirrors
“For most people, their most precious thing is their home,” Whaley said “We’re happy to help from the design process all the way to completion.”

I called McCreery and Sun for an estimate on a new furnace for my home. When Scott Butterworth came into my home, he was very friendly, professional, super knowledgeable, and most importantly honest. While he was looking at my furnace, he noticed a few things that needed some attention. Rather than getting an estimate for a new unit I was given some valuable information on how to keep my current unit running properly Thank you, Scott, I greatly appreciate your honestly, time, attention to detail and excellent conversation.

We ’ ve all seen the movies and television shows where weddings go awry. While many of the things that happen are way over the top and pretty uncommon for most weddings, there’s no denying that things can go sideways and a bride, groom, family members and even friends can come unhinged
Even if things don’t go awry, planning a wedding is a big undertaking no matter what size of nuptials you are looking to have
Amie Ingram, owner of Eventfully Unique, not only can help plan, design and organize weddings of all sizes, her work has won the WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards in 2022 and 2023 for top vendor in the online marketplace’s Planning category
The award recognizes the nation’s top wedding professionals for their work in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism. Candidates for the award are based off of client reviews on WeddingWire, a wedding vendor marketplace.
WeddingWire analyzes
reviews within its vendor directory across more than 20 categories, including venues, caterers, florists, bakers and photographers, to find the highest-rated of the year
“To be honest, just being elected for something like this and knowing the couples were happy with how I helped them, it’s a big deal in the industry,” Ingram explained “For me, it’s always been a goal to get that and this is the second year that I’ve won that award through WeddingWire.”
Other Colorado winners in WeddingWire’s Planning category include:
• Leigh & Co Events from Castle Rock
• Distinctive Mountain Events in Breckenridge
• Love in Mind Designs out of Denver
• The Perfect Moment in Denver
• Root + Gather Events from Longmont
• Mountainside Events out of
Fort Collins
• Events by Marguerite out of Edwards
• Alpine Luxury Events in Aspen
To see the complete list of winners from Colorado and around the country in all categories, go to http://bit ly/3XMM51U.
The accolades are especially sweet since Ingram’s Eventfully Unique is still considered a newbie in the event planning world
“For me being in the industry only four years, this is a big accomplishment,” she said

When it comes to her services, Ingram prides herself on being able to help couples design and plan their wedding to stay within their budget while still achieving their vision for their big day
“I had some really specific asks when it came to family and friends and the best way to utilize them on the big day as well as the best tips when it came to working with our parents,” said bride Nicole Regain “Amie is beyond kind and is full of joy Her involvement felt like she was apart of the wedding day ”
However, weddings aren’t the only things Ingram specializes in. She also offers event services for birthdays, anniversaries and family celebrations as well as corporate and business functions
In wedding “off season, ” Ingram helps clients with holiday decorating, home organization and staging.
“Some people hire me to help decorate for the holidays or just kind of come in and freshen up things,” Ingram said. “I also kind of help people organize their life in different aspects ”
As with any business, there are challenges and for Ingram, the economy seems to be her biggest hurdle.
“I would say my busiest year would have been the year of COVID and that was supposed to be my boom year So it’s just been a matter of getting back out there, connecting with people and doing a lot of networking to build the business back up, ” Ingram said. “People are tight-budgeted, they have limited income, so couples were putting off their weddings because they couldn’t afford it ”
As a former employee in the airline industry and then banking world, Ingram has always been drawn to working
in jobs that primarily focus on customer service.
“I’ve been in customer service my whole life, since I was 16, so for me to be able to help people like I want, and not have an influence of say, a corporation, who tells you how to do something, I can help people in ways that are unique,” Ingram said. “What I love more than anything is that I get to celebrate the most important day of somebody’s life and be a part of that.”
When not organizing events and weddings, Ingram enjoys networking and being involved with the community. She is also active in her church and enjoys spending time with her family.
“I love working in this community. I have been in Windsor now for about 15 years and I’ve raised two boys in this area, ” Ingram said. “I just love the community feel here and that’s the number one reason why I’ve stayed here.”

Windsor-Severance Library Updates and Information
BY TAMARA MARKARD
While the Windsor-Severance Library reopened Monday, Jan 30, patrons will notice there’s still a lot of construction work inside the building.
With the safety of staff and community members in mind, the library asks that people follow a few guidelines when visiting the library:
• Do not enter areas marked with caution tape, signs or cones
• Please supervise children at all times
• There are no tables, chairs or areas for children to play at, so please keep visits to the library brief
• Some of the construction may include painting, drywall and
carpet installation, so patrons that are sensitive to smells may want to opt for curbside pickup
• If you are unable to find an item you are looking for, please ask staff for help
Renovations are expected to be completed by the spring, so the above safety guidelines will be in effect for quite some time Despite the library reopening, there are some temporary changes to services
The bookmobile will resume its regularly scheduled stops on Monday, Feb 6 To see the bookmobile’s schedule, go to http://bit.ly/3wBVyxb.
The library is currently not accepting returns, so patrons are asked to hang on to items until March 6. However, Interlibrary Loan Items still need to be returned by their original due date.
Book drops will also be closed until March 6
Patrons can still check out materials. However, some collections may not be available for browsing. Library staff can retrieve requested items from those collections for patrons People can also request items from these collections through the Library Takeout
For more information about library accounts, go to bit ly/ 3HFCXXa or call (970) 686-5603.
Due to the continued construction, some library programs and events are being offered virtually, at alternative locations, as take-and-make kits or have been postponed. Study and meeting rooms are not available for reserve at this time
The library is planning a reopening celebration for the community as soon as renovations are complete and furniture has been installed. As soon as the library has all details finalized, an announcement will be released on social media platforms and on the library’s website with the date and time of the event
Community members can stay up-to-date on the remodel and announcements by going to the library’s remodel page at www clearviewlibrary org

ith Valentine’s Day just around the corner, do something different this year and skip the traditional heart-shaped boxes of generic candy by opting to support two local businesses
Whether your Valentine has a sweet tooth or is more inclined to choose something on the savory side, Many Macarons and The Bottled Olive Pantry offer a variety of fun and unique gifts that will please the palates of all ages
at 1224 Automation Drive, Suite E in Windsor, offers a variety of the classic French cookie and handmade chocolates that will dazzle the eyes and taste buds of all ages
Husband and wife owners Landon and Paige Fleener took their love of baking, and working together as partners, and turned it into the go-to place for sweet treats that you can’t find on every corner.
So what’s the deal
Two local businesses offer options for both this Valentine’s Day
Well, French macarons are actually pastries created with a meringue-based top and bottom sandwiched together by silky buttercream, sweet or savory jam or rich ganache
“To be honest, when you call it a ‘cookie’ the experts get grumpy about it,” Landon Fleener said, laughing.
The perfect macaron is a cookie that is room temperature when you bite into it, with the exterior shell a little crunchy. Soft and chewy inside, macarons have staying power Macarons come in vibrant colors and flavors and a true French macaron is unlike anything you ’ ve ever tasted.
28 | mywindsor | FEBRUARY 2023 News | COLORADO NEWS

“The colors and flavors really set macarons apart from just getting a chocolate chip cookie or a sugar cookie that you could make at home,” Paige Fleener explained. “This is something we can provide to our community that you can’t find everywhere.”
The thing with macarons is that they are not easy to make. Even with their experience, the Fleeners say they still watch the pastries bake through the oven window, sometimes while holding their breath and crossing their fingers.
Flavors of the Fleener’s macarons vary from banana cream and cotton candy to classic birthday cake and strawberry chamoy and pretty much anything in between. Flavors rotate daily, however, you can place a custom order for a specific flavor of macarons. Flavors can also be made dairy-free upon request.
“It’s kind of a niche cookie right now and I think people are falling in love with the macaron in general I have people who bring their kids in because their kids love macarons and have been trying to make them,” Landon Fleener said. “It takes so much time and effort to make, that when you are eating it, you are truly
enjoying the experience as opposed to slamming a cookie back ”
For Valentine’s Day, the Fleeners will be offering customized macarons as well as breakable hearts filled with goodies and a hammer to break it open
“I think we have some of the most romantic desserts,” Paige Fleener said
Along with macarons, the store offers cupcakes, macaron cakes, Fairy Crystals, chocolate dipped pretzels and strawberries, Crème Brule, handmade gift cards, t-shirts and other items that are sure to put a smile on the faces of everyone in the family.
“We have cocoa bombs and Unicorn Farts which is a conversation starter on its own, we have Cupcakes, cakesicles We have a little bit of everything,” Paige Fleener said
The store also carries Robin Chocolates from Longmont
The handmade chocolates by Robin Autorino are literal works of art and can make you think twice before popping one into your mouth
“My favorite is the Longs Peak,” Landon Fleener said, as he carefully pulled one out of the case, offering a sample.
Longs Peak chocolates
features a shell of white and dark chocolate filled with four different fillings dark chocolate ganache, Tahitian vanilla bean ganache, milk chocolate ganache and lastly, white chocolate ganache
Many Macarons can put together a gift box filled with macarons, chocolates, cocoa bombs and other items of customers’ choosing, providing a nice variety of sweets for everyone in the family.
“I have a whole variety of things that I can put into boxes,” Paige Fleener said. “Then it’s not like, ‘oh, I don’t like chocolate so you don’t have anything for me ’ We have something for everyone ”
Custom orders require a minimum of 12 macarons per flavor and a 48-hour notice.
Many Macarons is open from 8 a m to 7 p m Monday through Friday, from 10 a m to 6 p m Saturday and closed on Sunday
For more information, or to inquire about a custom order, go to www manymacaronsbypaige.com or call (970) 460-9812
More and more people are requesting gifts that they can use, rather than stick in a closet or stash in a drawer for eternity.
Food defiantly falls into
the “ use ” category and is a gift that is often shared amongst the family, saved for a special date night or celebration
Two things that people usually don’t consider when purchasing food-themed gifts is that of flavored olive oil and vinegars
The Bottled Olive Pantry, 1550 Main St., Unit 130, Windsor, introduces cooks of all skill levels and foodies to the world of flavored olive oils & vinegars as well as unique spice blends, jams & jellies, mustards and more.
The store originally opened in October 2017, with new owner Amanda Hiller taking it over in June 2020

everybody else and I was coming to the store through curbside pick up and loving on the owner and she said she was just really tired and if she could find the right person, she would sell the store,” Hiller explained “So I went home and thought about what I wanted to do when I grow up, so I am now the olive oil lady ”
The store features over 50 different flavor-infused oils and vinegars that can be used to make marinades and dressings, in baked goods, for grilling meats and vegetables, sprinkled over ice cream, drizzled over soups and even added to water for a burst of flavor.
“You can taste any of the oils, vinegars and spices before you buy them as well as the perishable items,” Hiller said “We want to eliminate that barrier to entry and make it super approachable. We want to give customers a taste of something and then tell them about the different ways to use it ”
For those not familiar with flavorinfused olive oils and vinegars, they may think that there’s really only a couple of things you can do with the pair make salad dressings or marinades
“What do you do with blood orange olive oil? You put it in brownie mix and it’s fabulous These olive oils and vinegars take a good cook and elevates their cooking because there’s so much concentrated flavor,” Hiller said. “There’s also the health part of it. Olive oils are a healthy fat rather than using vegetable oil, canola oil or butter
We try to teach people how to do food replacement and use olive oil ”
The store’s oils and vinegars run the gamut from sweet and savory to hot and classic flavors
Some of The Bottled Olive’s more unique oil and vinegar flavors include:
• Pineapple Habanero Balsamic Vinegar
• Black Garlic Tamari Barrel Aged Balsamic Vinegar
• Prosecco Sparkling White Wine Vinegar
• Maple-Wood Smoked Bacon Olive Oil
• Blood Orange Olive Oil
• Sweet Cream Butter Olive Oil
The store also sells different herbs, spices, seasoning mixes, sugars, salts and peppers like sweet smoked chili rub and seasoning, vanilla bean-infused sea salt, wild blueberry sugar and a Wild Spice Sampler.
The Bottled Olive also has premade gift baskets in a variety of sizes, themes and price points. Customers can also make their own gift basket designed in mind for that special someone
