For the Trail-Gazette

So, I have a confession, I haven’t been exercising during all ofthis stay-athome and safer-at-home orders. Why? I fell out ofthe habit and I am just at work and home, so what is the point? There is too much to worry about and my favorite places to work out have been closed as well. Feel familiar to you? Well, I should be out exercising and keeping my body healthy. Lately I am feeling the decline in my fitness. So, why do I share this? I am concerned about your hearing fitness!

Pain is difficult to deal with. If left uncared for, pain can become debilitating, however, sometimes the side-effects of prescription pain killers are just as unbearable.

If that is the case, consider trying CBD.

Local CBDepot store clerk, Kristina Burd, explained her own story, “I have a terribly painful shoulder that I reserved myself to just deal with because no over-thecounter pain relievers helped and I couldn’t function with prescription pain killers.

“After I started working here people recommended I try the CBD Salve, which is a body balm you can rub onto the area that hurts, and I’m happy to say it’s by far been the best thing for it.”

CBDepot offers infused salves/topicals, oils/tinctures, edibles/drinks, and much more. While salves ar e best for body aches, tinctures are better for anxiety. Their treats are for people as well as pets, so everyone can enjoy life!

Be aware, different terpenes create different effects; they range from relief and relaxation to vitality and energy.

So when you visit CBDepot, talk to the knowledgeable staff and learn if CBD is a better alternative for you!

The FDA has not approved CBD as a treatment for pain or anxiety relief.

LIVING WELL Stanley Hotel offers somethingforall

By Tim Mosier Trail-Gazette

After the COVID-19 pandemic caused accommodations all over the world to shutter their doors, the Historic Stanley Hotel is back and better than ever.

The entertainment scene has changed dramatically over the course of the past months. Earlier this summer all concerts, sporting events, and large gatherings of any kind ground to a halt. Now, venues such as the Stanley are figuring out ways to invite guests back in a safe and fun way.

The Stanley is doing so by not only welcoming guests back to the historic hotel, but offering entertainment that few others can.

As seen on the hit series America’s Got Talent and Penn and Teller’s Fool Us, Aiden Sinclair returned to the Historic Stanley Hotel with an all-new presentation of Illusions of the Passed on July 3.

“It’s pretty exciting to be back,” Sinclair said of his return to the stage and to the Stanley. “We’ve been off

for about three months now with COVID-19 and trying to take all the precautions we can.”

Illusions of the Passed is an immersive, and audience interactive, theatrical séance experience. According to reviews, the show takes its guests on a journey into the paranormal and leaves them wondering if there isn’t just a little bit more to this life than any of us know.

The show is presented twice nightly Wednesday through Sunday with shows at 6 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m..

Tickets are available online at www.stanleyhotel.com/illusionsofthepassed.html or in person on show days in the Pinion Room at the Stanley Hotel and at the Stanley Hotel Tours Desk. Cost of admission is $35 for general seating and $55 for VIP seating in the front row. VIP tickets also come with an autographed poster of the show.

In addition to Illusions of the Past, the Stanley offers tours throughout the historic grounds.

The Stanley Day Tour is a unique way to experience the hotel’s history, architecture, folklore, and pop culture while being guided by a knowledgeable storyteller. Each tour offers you opportunities to explore, ask questions, and perhaps leave with a few stories of your own.

The Day Tour is currently limited to 10 people and, for the safety of all guests and employees, masks are required. The cost of admission is $23 per person, $20 for hotel guests, $17 for anyone under the age of 17, and $20 for AAA members, Military members and seniors.

On the Historic Stanley Night Tour (Ghost Tour) guests are taken to a few darkened spaces and introduced to the active phenomena and spirit folklore surrounding the Town’s 100+ year old hotel.

This 45 minute walking tour will introduce you to Mr. F.O. Stanley, his wife Flora, famed author Stephen King, and other notewor thy visitors. The tour is billed asaunique way to experience the hotel’s history, architecture, folklore, and pop culture with a knowledgeable storyteller under the ambiance of nighttime in the Rocky Mountains.

Children under the age of eight are not permitted on the Day of Night Tours but are encouraged to check out the Family and Friends Tour which is an interactive tour geared toward kids eight and under, but is gr eat for the whole family.

For more information on availability check out the Stanley Hotel Tours website or give them a call at (970) 577-4111, or by email at StanleyTours@Stanley Hotel.com.

The stores are like treasure troves of fine art. Some ofthe pieces also include tu rquoise inlays in what could very well be the most wonderful combination of sticks and stones one could imagine. With that said, the only way to truly understand its awe is to see it for yourself.

The first part of the 1.3-mile hike is the toughest. It’s fairly steep and requires stepping up and over rocks and boulders.

Then the trail levels out at the top of a ridge that provides spectacular views of Lily Lake below and an incredibly different look at Longs Peak.

Along the way, hikers can spot many chipmunks and a wide array of birds.

At the far end of the trail before it winds back down to lake level, you get a fantastic glimpse of the Mummy Range,

By adding a little distance to your visit to Lily Lake, you also get some quiet distance from the people below to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. The hike starts at 9475 feet elevation and the highest elevation you reach is 9760, making the total elevation gain 670 feet.

Hikers are greeted by splendid green aspens and the sounds of melted snow running into small creeks

There are some ups and downs on this trek, so older hikers may want to bring a hiking stick or pole to help them up and down rocky areas. At one point, you may have to balance yourself to walk across a log over a small stream.

Arriving at the lake is a lovely surprise. The view from the edge is spectacular with craggy snow-tipped mountains creating the perfect backdrop. Ducks swim and played.

During the hike, you ascend more than a thousand feet. There are many switchbacks and some awesome boulder formations to climb up along the way. The trail dips and climbs several times.

As you near the top, there is a late steep portion where stone steps have been built to help you up. At the very top, there is a rock scramble where you have to use your hands to hoist yourself up to enjoy the 360 degree view which includes Longs Peak and the glorious meadows below. The hike begins by crossing two wooden bridges over the babbling Big Thompson River. From there, follow the trail through the western edge of Moraine Park. As you wind through the aspen and pine-lined path, you are greeted by numerous birds and chipmunks.

Huge boulders surround you here. As you head up the trail, you are greeted by the sounds of brooks you can hear, but not see. Then suddenly as if a small gift from nature, the water will appear beside the trail

The lake itself is an unexpected delight. Covered almost entirely with lily pads blooming with yellow flowers, Cub Lake is a glorious place to sit on a rock and enjoy lunch.

As you continue on the trail toward the Pool, you cross over a ridge that reveals a spectacular mountain with jagged rocks covering its face.

Hiking down toward the Pool is much easier than the first part of our journey.

Hikers reach the lovely wooden bridge over the Big Thompson River. This is the Pool, which is where Fern Creek meets the river. The rush of water here is exhilarating.
