GREELEY Parks and Recreation
Newcomers to Greeley often comment on the number of parks they see in our community. With more than 40 parks and open spaces, you’ll find abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation. Our parks include walking trails, picnic shelters, sports courts, and playgrounds. During the summer, you can cool off at our pools and splash parks. Last year, a network of three new and state of the art skate parks were completed. Hazelton Park in west Greeley will open in the spring of 2020- making it Greeley’s 43rd park.
The Poudre River Trail extends across the north side of Greeley for more than 20 miles. It’s perfect for walking, running, or cycling – or simply enjoying the calm along the Cache la Poudre River. Greeley’s streets include approximately 85 miles of designated bicycle paths for safe riding. Last year, 1.5 miles of a new regional trail with a major extension of the Sheep Draw Trail opened.
Within Greeley’s city limits, you’ll find two highly-rated public golf courses at Boomerang Links featuring ample driving areas framed by native grass mounds reminiscent of the links of Scotland and Ireland and Highland Hills with tree lined fairways, rolling hills, and challenging greens. The Greeley Country Club private course highlights mature trees, manicured greens, tight fairways, and small targets from tee to green. The Eaton Country Club, about 15 minutes north of Greeley, offers a beautifully
maintained mature course. You can find four more courses within 20 minutes of Greeley. Disc golf and miniature golf are available for those who prefer a different game.
If you’d rather play indoors, the Greeley Recreation Center and Family FunPlex provide an abundance of classes and sports to keep you active; memberships now include many fitness classes at no additional charge. The fitness equipment at the FunPlex has recently been upgraded. Join a volleyball or basketball league, swim, or sign up for a fitness program through the City. Both offer Senior Sneakers® programs. For those who like their recreation on ice, the Greeley Ice Haus offers skating lessons, open skates, hockey, and curling on NHL regulation ice. The Northern Colorado Eagles hockey team established their new home at the Greeley Ice Haus in 2019.
