This card records the skills or pass you obtain in each of the 7 modules. As you pass each module successfully the corresponding skill is noted in your card. Pass in all 7 modules leads to the award of your licence.

Module 1: Concept of IT Module 2: Using the Computer Module 3: Word Processing Module 4: Spread sheets Module 5: Database Software Module 6: Presentation Software Module 7: Using Email and the Internet ICDL Advanced The next certification level if you have completed ICDL Core and wants to progress further, or if you are already a ‘power user’. ICDL Advanced will allow you to demonstrate higher level of skills. It will allow you to prove that you are competent and efficient in a range of IT applications and each module awards an individual certificate. The modules are: Word processing (AM3), Spread sheets (AM4), Data Base (AM5) and Presentations (AM6).

If you complete all of the modules you will receive an ECDL Advanced Expert certificate.

ICDL Specialised The internationally recognized ICDL Specialised covers the core requirements needed to ascertain the ability of the candidate to use specialized computer applications and systems. This is the certification if you are using computers for specialized applications: CAD, Web publishing, Multimedia and Image processing.

ICDL in India The Italian Association for Informatics and Banyan Tree Knowledge Centre Limited hold the responsibility for ICDL in India. The Open Institute for Skills, Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, Guwahati, is the first ever approved ICDL certification centre in the Northeast India.

How do I get ICDL Core?

Registration: Candidate registering will be issued with a Skills Card which remains valid for three years from registration during which candidate is expected to pass 7 examinations.

Study: The way in which you choose to study will vary from person to person. We offer flexible training solutions to allow varied approaches to learning.

1. Self-Study or Open learning: We provide structured open learning materials for the ECDL 5 syllabus approved by the ECDL Foundation.

The courseware guides the student in a systematic style.

2. Classroom training: Train at Open Institute for Skills, Enterprise and Lifelong Learning (or one of its affiliated training centre) where you will be guided through the course material and practice sessions.

Examinations: The final step in completing your ICDL certification is to pass the examinations at the test centre. Each ICDL module requires you to sit an exam of 45 minutes, taken one at a time.

Approved by the ECDL Foundation and British Computer Society (BCS) contains over 1000 pages of learning plus hundreds of additional practice material available as part of the registration package only provided on disk or download (printed courseware available at extra `.2500 to cover the cost of printing and binding).

There is no compulsory training. If the employees believe that they already are sufficiently experienced they can purchase a Skills Card and start to take the tests.
