Happy 10th Anniversary TKS Toastmasters Club The official foundation of TKS Toastmasters Club was laid in October 2009 with an overwhelming number of 33 chartered members which has till date been a record number to start any new club in Bahrain. It had been done under the patronage of past EXCOM & ExPresident of TKS President DTM Raghunadha Babu.

The Mission of Toastmasters Club is to provide effective leaders and communicators to the society.

TKS Toastmasters meet every 2nd and 4th Friday at TKS Club, Adliya, Bahrain and till date it has conducted 221 meetings.

Leadership is a way of thinking, a way of acting, most importantly, a way of communicating- Quoted by Simon Sinek Such leaders are our founder members. Telugu Kala Samithi (TKS) then President DTM Raghunadha Babu’s vision and efforts of Mentors DTM P.B. Dinesh, TM Rashida Suleman and many toastmasters built the foundation.

This foundation was made strong by the will power of the sponsors DTM Joel Indrupati and DTM Yugandhar by their persistent efforts. The main aim at that time of inception is to create strong leaders who could serve the mother club well and now if you see 4 out of 8 EXCOM of TKS are Toastmasters including President TM Haribabu and General Secretary DTM M.B.Reddy. The prime wish has been successfully fulfilling each tenure.

10 years passed since its inception. A decade is not a short span of time.

Through all these years club helped its members to grow in both personal and professional life. What could be the reason that held its strings together! It is none other than passion. Passion is the energy that spreads positivity all around. This paves the way to the success. And as our theme of the event says, Success is Journey, not Destination. May this success journey prevail forever.

My journey of Toastmasters started in October 2011 with the help of DTM Muralidhar Kommajosula my Mentor who is a charter member of TKS Toastmasters. Since then TKS Toastmasters has become my family. Thanks to the Mother Club Telugu Kala Samithi (TKS) for its constant support. The versatile character of this club is that members come from different backgrounds where we get to learnt many different things.

Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much. I thank all the TKS Toastmasters who came together and worked hand in hand to make this day a memorable one. I appreciate my EXCOM TEAM for keeping up the team spirit always high. Last but not the least I thank all the support rendered by seniors to make it a successful one.

In conclusion, Lets Explore New Horizons, Escalate Great Heights and Excel Exponentially with TKS Toastmasters.

TKS TM has come a long way from an armature club ten years back to an expert TM club today. It means our destiny is predicted to be great. Congratulations and Compliments for TKS TM Club's achievements & accomplishments during this DTM Raghunadha Babu decade. which were not child's play but due to your TKS President 2009-10 efforts.

TKSTM Founder Member I am proud to be a part of the team that founded this prestigious club. This reminds me of those nostalgic moments of the night when we resolved in the TKS ExCom to install a TM club supported by the mother club TKS, to benefit TKS members, making them confident speakers and competent leaders. This was the outcome of almost six months of discussions and deliberations with several Distinguished Toastmasters in the island. We are thankful to our Supporters, Mentors, Sponsors & Chartered Members, without whose contribution at that time, we wouldn't be what we are today.

Since establishment in 1923 Toastmasters Movement has grown bigger & bigger and our TKS TM Club's achievements during this decade also climbed up higher & higher. Toastmasters is a place where it's members develop themselves and help others to develop, Give generously and Take graciously and find their Voice & Fulfil their destiny.

Today we are celebrating 10th Anniversary of TKS toastmasters means so far we had organised a minimum of 220+ club meeting sessions which helped many members to improve their soft skills. We had more than 600 hours of educational sessions to help our members.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank and appreciate all the members for taking keen interest in the Toastmasters activities. This is the true spirit of TKS toastmasters and also its very purpose. So, let us keep it going like this forever. Let not the good times end.

What TKS toastmasters club is doing at present is a mere speck in the ocean. A lot more needs to be done for the larger cause of the community in Bahrain. All this is possible only with greater participation by all our members in all our activities.

I congratulate TKS Toastmasters Club for celebrating its 10th anniversary. I am honored to be the charter member of the TKS Toastmasters club. I had the privilege to serve the TKS Toastmasters in various capacities as Area Secretary (2009-10), Asst. Area Governor – Marketing (2010-11), VP – Education (201112) and eventually as the President of the TKS Toastmasters Club for the 2012-13 term.

5th TKSTM President As fifth President of TKS TMC, I hold great allegiance to my dear club which has given me 3C’s for life ….. Confidence, Communication Skills and Camaraderie. During my tenure as President I faced many challenges, which arose due to the economic crisis which had picked up the momentum. No sponsors were coming forward for any activity that had to be conducted especially for the club & area contest, family day etc.

With support of the TKS TOASTMASTERS who showed grit and unity many events were conducted within constrained budget which was qualitative in its own way.

I being the first time President who was unanimously elected without having played any other role in previous executive committees was more challenging for me to create a conducive environment as a leader who led to inspire and innovatively increased attendance of toastmasters in all meetings by creative approach and unique themes which was applied in meetings to attract leaders to enhance their existing skills.

Indeed it is a great pleasure and learning experience to be part of such a great organization and a great club. I was so excited to receive Toastmaster of the Year award for the first time from my mother club in the year 2011. With the great overwhelming support from TKS toastmasters I could serve the Area 2 as Area Director for the term 20182019.

I am so privileged to serve as TKSTM President for the term 2017-18. With the support of my team (Ex-com) and members, we achieved many laurels to our club like 10/10 DCP, membership awards for twice, taking membership strength to 42 plus and conducting 25 meetings in that year. Mostly starting of meetings ONTIME was a great achievement that has become as custom from then to now.

I was so honored as Area Director to get great team from TKSTM as well as other Area 2 clubs that showcased great team spirit to give me a memorable Area contest experience.

Overall I gained great communication skills as well as great leadership skills in a very friendly environment of my mother club TKSTM. Whatever I am today is because of TKS toastmasters.

Thanks to all the mentors, sponsors, founders, leaders, members for making TKSTM such a vibrant.

Ten years of excellence, ten years of dedication, ten years of wins and loss, ten years of joy and grief, ten years is only the beginning. So long we are determined, and we continue to dream, the best will come.

A decade ago, a movement was initiated by some elite ladies and gentlemen of TKS with an aim to groom the community in public speaking, communication and leadership and On October 12 2009, that movement progressed into an association – TKS Toastmaster Club. The acts of those great minds that day is paying dividends not only to our community TM Raman Rao but to everyone around the world.

TKSTM President It is the dream, hard work, dedication of the club sponsors, 2018-19 mentors, the chartered members and the undying support of the then Telugu Kala Samathi working committee that today we are one of the best toastmaster club on the island.

Over the years, committees have come and gone but the essence of our club members is not lost - anyone, anywhere, anytime - ready to render help to the club. I have not seen any club that is so friendly, caring, involved and loving which brings a family atmosphere especially when we are far off from our motherland.

The qualities that TMI wants its members to inherit – TKS TM members are born with them. Continue to strive for the best and give your best always, every time. Live up the TMI values – Integrity, Respect, Service, Excellence. Do not worry about failures. Failure is only an opportunity to start again but this time more intelligently.

TM Prasad Palla VP Education I wasn’t born leader. By seeing leaders around me, I committed myself to become one. At the same time , I want to become a better speaker. I came to know that Toastmasters is the right platform to improve both skills which made me to join in TKS Toastmasters club. The sixth commitment in the toastmasters promise is to serve my club as an officer when called upon to do. So I took the challenge and served as a Sergeant at Arms once, VPMembership role twice and now I have been serving as a VP–Education. Being an active member and officer in Toastmasters gave me the chance to learn many things and my leadership qualities improved a lot. I urge the new toastmasters take-up the challenge, Be a leader to fulfil the promise and see the difference.

Few years back I was not the person I am today, my courage to face people and address an audience. I decided to conquer fear and kept searching and visiting several different clubs before discovering TKS Toastmasters Club.

TKS Toastmasters club had the right mix of people, professionalism and fun that I was looking for.

I walked into TKS toastmasters club with great expectations of becoming a better speaker and a better overall communicator, for this I even fought into the challenges unknown to me, to improve my leadership skills.

No sooner, it became clear that those frequent meetings were perfect for my needs, where I learned to speak in front of an audience, overcoming my nervousness.

During my learning process , I learned many speech delivery techniques, awareness of new ideas and the contagiousness of energy and confidence from my senior toastmasters.

My attitude and perception regarding public speaking moved from fear to fun!!! And I took a bolder step for the 1st time facing a public podium!!! , as in 2017-18, I took part in inter club contest and won the Humorous Speech Contest at area level and went on to compete in the division contest in Bahrain.

In addition to that I am now in a leadership position of VP - Membership , helping to plan club membership activities and other public speeches which made me stranger to the word called " FEAR " .

Eventually I held several club and area leadership positions, greatly improving both my management and leadership skills.

Don’t I need to owe this great place and be grateful to it for having changed me into a confident speaker? So a big Thank you to TKS Toastmasters club

2019-20 ExCom Messages WALKING THE LONGEST DISTANCE

TM Abhishek P VP Public Relations The first time I heard about a toastmaster was when I was invited as a guest at TKS Toastmasters Club and this was almost 2 years ago. Up to the 1st half of the meeting my mind was trying to make-out what exactly this toastmaster is all about because the name was not going well with the activities happening there. Towards the end of the meeting it was clear to me that this club is tailor made for me where I can express myself by walking the longest distance of my life i.e., from my seat where I was sitting to the podium of TKS Toastmaster Club.

From the immediate next meeting onwards, my toastmasters journey kicked-off. Icebreaker speech was really an ice breaker for me where I met and got to know about my inner self. This speech encouraged me to place my stumbling foot on the 1 steppingstone towards the success which I was going to achieve.

Within these two years, I have completed my Competent Communicator (CC) with 9 best speaker ribbons, stood 3rd at club level annual contest and chaired the contest at area level. Now I am on the verge to complete my Pathways level 1, Competent Leadership and a serving VPPR of TKS Toastmasters Club.

In just 2 years of my toastmastering, I have gained the skill of quality speaking and gathered the courage to speak anywhere, at any time and at any level in my both personal and professional life which has helped to grow leaps and bounds. And now even the once upon a time’s longest distance has become the easiest and fun filled journey in my day-to day life.

2019-20 ExCom Messages I UNDERSTOOD MYSELF TM Manju Latha Secretary If I want to describe myself before and after toastmasters’ journey is totally different. I am a shy, reserved around other people, especially in a socially situation. I never used to express my views even in small groups because of my introverted character.

I came to know about TKS toastmasters when I joined my daughter in gavels club. Initially I thought in toastmasters, they teach us how to get rid of fear in public speaking. But after joining TKS toastmasters, I came to know that we learn from each other in the form of speeches, evaluations and table topics. And most importantly I understood myself.

I was very nervous when giving my icebreaker speech but anyway I completed giving it. I dropped my second speech in the middle, at the point of time I thought of giving up.

With the encouragement of my fellow toastmasters and remembering the quotation of great philosopher, Khalil Gibran “Life is not only merriment, it is desire and determination”. I successfully completed level 1 and looking forward to give more speeches.

In conclusion, I can say Toastmaster will give you the skills and confidence you need to express yourself effectively in any situation. Whether you are a professional, student, stay at home parent or retired, toastmasters is the most efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication skills.
