RHINO/REVIT/UNREAL ENGINE

“Benchasiri Building, situated in the bustling area of Promprong Sukhumvit in Thailand, is an innovative mixeduse development. Our primary design objective is to prioritize sustainability and integrate cutting-edge building technology into every aspect of the project.Using adaptive components and coding, we’ve bridged Revit and Grasshopper to overcome traditional limitations. This allows us to create a dynamic contemporary facade that reflects local essence and climate, pushing design boundaries.”

Computational Facade Design

In the design of mixed-use high-rise buildings, meticulous attention to the facade system is crucial, particularly given the diverse lease spans of office and hotel spaces.

Effective facade design directly impacts both the aesthetic appeal and functional performance of the building.

Parametric Design Integration

Our approach is the development of a custom Grasshopper script integrated with Revit. This integration facilitates the seamless transfer of parametric designs between platforms.

Utilizing Python coding, we have engineered a method to transpose Grasshopper’s additive components directly into Revit, resulting in the creation of a dynamic and responsive facade system.

Sustainability Optimization

Moreover, this methodology allows us to enhance sustainability features within Revit. By importing shading analysis data from Grasshopper, we can effectively implement optimized shading strategies into Revit models.

This not only improves energy efficiency but also significantly enhances occupant comfort, aligning with our commitment to sustainable building practices.

OVER/UNDER

Rethinking the process of gentrification and Architectural Design

“Over and Under” presents a speculative proposal for a novel housing system and living history museum. It serves as both an immersive archive, preserving the lost, disappearing, and uncanny life of the old Mahakan Fort community, and as a new housing network for future generations. The project proposes a compromise between heritage preservation and the inevitable growth and expansion of the community.

Site Analysis

The project emphasizes heritage preservation, aiming to conserve the unique character and traditions of the community and ensure that the rich history of Mahakan Fort is not forgotten.

It blends old and new architectural elements, preserving historic structures while introducing modern amenities. Adaptive reuse techniques repurpose existing buildings, reducing waste and honoring the community’s past.

Grasshopper is used to create organic forms that seamlessly integrate with the old structure and introduce a new architectural system.

Museum of Preservation

The museum acts as a repository and exhibition space for historical and cultural objects, lived and exhibited by local communities. It embodies the community’s life, often seen as undesired and facing eviction.

Occupants become active participants, shaping the environment through interactions with objects. Minimal interventions preserve the essence of the community.

Community & Design Strategy

Through a bottom-up urban practice, locally found moments are maintained and amplified, fostering a resilient community. This transformation process involves the local community as co-curators of their community life, ensuring their voices and experiences are preserved and celebrated.

As the community becomes more exposed, the public route identified through online experience creates a balance between private and public spaces for both visitors and locals. Thus, in this Museum of the Present, the existing identity of the neighborhood is activated and celebrated.

YOUTH HAS NO AGE

Rethinking the accessibility and Architectural Design

Proposes a vision where overlooked members of the society may immerse themselves in various celebrated ambiences of routines and rituals. Activities and required systems are brought out from buildings to allow accessibility and engagement.

Celebrating The Old Days

They are deployed in a once neglected historic Chinese neighborhood on Charoen Krung Road, where some locals have felt dismissed both physically and psychologically.

The intention is to reconstruct the experiences of certain architectural typologies without their buildings. The related activities are removed from the architecture and brought closer to their homes in the proximity of their streets.

Scenes from small daily individual routines to larger scale gatherings on special occasions are re-created through mobile collapsible structures with layers of atmospheric elements and ornamentation.

Design Strategy >> Grasshopper

The design strategy utilizes origami techniques implemented through Grasshopper, allowing for movable, expandable, and scalable structures to accommodate different activities.

The adaptive component-based system offers benefits like flexibility, adaptability, and space transformation according to each design’s needs.

Constructed mainly from steel frames and canvas roofs, the structures promote materiality, flexibility, and adaptability through tension and compression.

There are 4 specialized typologies I’m looking at. These are a teahouse, a market, a cinema, and a dance hall. This type of structures, which generate benefits such as adaptability, flexibility and space transformation due to the needs of each structural design

GHOSTS IN THE LANDSCAPE

Landscape infrastucture and Ecological Reclamation

The project is a speculative proposal for a new typology of natural history museum and landscape research infrastructure. It is simultaneously an immersive archive that showcases the lost, disappearing, and emerging landscapes of Bangkuntian and a geoengineering network for ecological reclamation. The ongoing coastal erosion is not just swallowing the landscape but sites of historical significance are also disappearing.

Amidst these all too archetypal signifiers of the Anthropocene, the project aims to redefine the typical relationships between human agency and local ecologies through the introduction of a productive synthetic ecology that integrates social, and cultural.

Site Analysis

Bangkuntian is currently facing a series of interrelated issues of anthropogenic origin such as expanding industries, urbanization, coastal erosion, and flooding.

CONSTANT

: Micro Level To Macro Level Strategy

OPERATING STRATEGY >> IMAGE RECONSTRUCTION DIAGRAM)

To reconstruct the historical landscape, gathered evidence such as satellite imagery, microscope imagery, and historical records from the Ayutthaya period to the present.

Using Grasshopper, I converted 2D images to 3D geometry, incorporating fragments and architectural elements from the site. To preserve both old architecture and existing conditions, used the CycleGAN machine-learning algorithm. This space invites live contributions to shape the identity and history of Bangkhunthien.

Transformation Rendering >> The Living Gallery (VR)

In this space, it exhibits versatile environments through an immersive mixed reality experience; AR and VR and physical objects.

This space allows people to experience tactility, visuals, touch, scents, and sound. These infrastructures functionally work as an archive of Bangkhuntian that replicates the picturesque effects where visitors can experience.

Landscape Research Infrastructure Natural history museum

Rethinking contaminated landscape sites, this area includes temporal artifacts that function as landscape regenerators
