Desde hace 15 años, Comex publica ColorLife Trends, una herramienta para que profesionales del diseño, la arquitectura, el interiorismo y la creatividad —o cualquier interesado— experimenten con nuevas paletas de color que reflejen el espíritu de nuestro tiempo.

Los colores poseen dimensiones culturales, simbólicas, psicológicas e incluso económicas. Por eso, como cada año, Comex reunió a diseñadores, arquitectos, artistas y expertos creativos, quienes tomaron en consideración referentes de la naturaleza y del mercado, así como cambios culturales y sociales para determinar el color del año, Moly A5-10, y cuatro paletas de color que prevalecerán durante 2023 y que presentamos en este libro de trabajo.

For the past 15 years, Comex has been publishing ColorLife Trends to help architects, interior and industrial designers, creative professionals, and anyone interested to experiment with new color palettes that reflect the spirit of our times.

Colors have cultural, symbolic, psychological, and even economic dimensions. That is why, like every year, Comex brought together experts from di erent fields who took into consideration cultural and social changes, market trends, as well as elements of nature that bear significance in our context, to determine the Color of the Year, Moly A5-10, and the four palettes that will prevail during 2023. In this workbook, we present their findings.

Architecture and design (which include the use of color) are not only functional. They also have a psychological dimension that a ects our sensations and moods.

Colors with lower saturation are calming, while saturated colors promote creativity. Reds keep us alert, while lilacs invite us to reflect. Yellows inspire positive thoughts, and oranges give us energy.

The light is absorbed by light colors, making rooms bright and spacious.

ANÁLISIS DE COLOR COLOR ANALYSIS

Para 2023 identificamos cuatro tendencias de color regidas por el concepto de fluidez. Hoy hemos aprendido que nada volverá a ser como antes y que estamos listos para mirar al futuro, adaptarnos a un mundo incierto y en cambio constante, y fluir con ello.

El impulso de una efervescencia transformadora que desafía tabúes y prejuicios se presenta este año con un predominio de colores rojos en todas las paletas. Los lilas y violáceos también sobresalen como muestra de la fuerza femenina, protagonista en casi todos los procesos de cambio que experimentamos.

Amarillos y naranjas irrumpen con energía y luminosidad para reflejar lo imprevisto, pero también la positividad con la que afrontamos el futuro. Los verdes y azules se vinculan con el diálogo entre el mundo natural y el artificial, entre lo tangible y lo virtual. Como balance en casi todas estas gamas, los grises nos hablan de la reflexión y evocan la fluidez con la que aceptamos los retos del futuro.

For 2023 we identified four color trends governed by the concept of fluidity. Today we have learned that nothing will ever be the same again and that we are ready to look to the future, adapt to an uncertain and constantly changing world, and flow with it.

This year, red predominates in all palettes to signal the momentum of a transformative e ervescence that defies taboos and prejudices. Lilacs and violets also stand out as a sign of female strength, the protagonist in almost all the processes of change that we are experiencing.

Bright yellows and oranges burst with energy signaling the unexpected, but also the positivity with which we face the future. Greens and blues are linked to the dialogue between the natural and artificial worlds, between the tangible and the virtual. Balancing almost all these ranges, grays speak to us of reflection and evoke the fluidity with which we accept the challenges of the future.

FLUIDEZ FLUIDITY

En la época contemporánea, los cambios económicos, políticos y tecnológicos ocurren cada vez con mayor rapidez; la naturaleza, por su parte, no es inmutable ni predecible. De igual manera, las comunidades e individuos de hoy no somos estáticos ni creemos en mandatos inflexibles. Colaboramos en la construcción de nuevos paradigmas y participamos en los cambios de manera menos radical. La realidad nos pide adoptar la FLUIDEZ como una forma de estar y movernos en el mundo.

De este gran impulsor de tendencias se desprenden otros dos drivers: FEMENINO Y DIGITAL FÍSICO

La fuerza de lo FEMENINO actúa como una chispa que detona muchos de los cambios que experimentamos. También nos lleva a cuestionar y reflexionar sobre la masculinidad, el poder e incluso la relación que tenemos con nuestro cuerpo.

Las fronteras entre lo FÍSICO y lo DIGITAL se han desdibujado. El mundo digital dejó de ser un elemento abstracto y hoy existen intercambios entre lo tangible y lo virtual, los cuales representamos aquí con el símbolo .

In contemporary times, economic, political, and technological changes are occurring ever more rapidly; nature, for its part, is neither immutable nor predictable. Likewise, today’s communities and individuals are not static and do not believe in inflexible mandates. We collaborate in the construction of new paradigms and participate in the changes in a less radical way. Reality asks us to adopt FLUIDITY as a way of being and moving in the world.

From this major trend driver come two other drivers: FEMALE AND DIGITAL   PHYSICAL.

The force of the FEMALE acts like a spark that detonates many of the changes we experience. It also leads us to question and reflect on masculinity, power, and the relationship we have with our bodies.

The boundaries between the PHYSICAL and the DIGITAL have blurred. The digital world is no longer an abstraction and today there are exchanges between the tangible and the virtual, which we represent here with the symbol

Molusco 085-01. Es un rojo que tiende al blanco y que sirve como apoyo para otras tonalidades. Fomenta sentimientos calmados y accesibilidad. Evoca texturas elásticas y esponjosas.

Zumbido 245-03. Es un amarillo muy ligero, con gran cantidad de blanco. Su frescura evoca el aire libre. En superficies pequeñas acentúa la inocencia; otorga energía y jovialidad en muros completos.

Crisol 001-01. Pertenece a la paleta de los o -whites, por lo que es ideal para dar amplitud. Vuelve todo diáfano y nítido. Puedes conseguir un estilo nórdico al combinarlo con maderas claras.

Asturias M4-06. Es un verde inspirado en los estados físicos del agua y sus variaciones. En muros expresa tranquilidad, pero puede ser un elemento revitalizador en estructuras de transición.

Caimán 199-07. Éste es un azul verdoso que nos transporta a playas caribeñas, pero también a ambientes artificiales en las pantallas de cine. Es refrescante y comunica estabilidad y elegancia.

Agrio 249-06. Pertenece a la familia de los cítricos. Es muy cercano al amarillo primario, pero con más luz. Es vibrante, por lo que estimula la creatividad y el buen humor. Recomendable para habitaciones muy transitadas.

Infanta 085-06. Es un rojo de saturación intensa que tiende al naranja. Este color utilizará las condiciones de iluminación para mostrar su versatilidad cromática. Refiere al misticismo, a la sensualidad y a la aristocracia. Excelente para dar acentos de color en recámaras y salas de estar.

Pavorreal 178-07. Al combinar cobalto y cerúleo, este azul adquiere una personalidad alegre. En exteriores predispone a situaciones festivas; en interiores favorece los comportamientos amigables.

Omega A3-11. Es un violeta que tiene una cualidad líquida y artificial. Tiene toques de magenta y malva. Representa empoderamiento y autoafirmación; favorece la meditación y es perfecto para habitaciones donde nos reencontramos con nosotros mismos.

Molusco 085-01. A red that tends to white and serves as a complement for other hues. Promotes feelings of calmness and openness. It evokes elastic and spongy textures.

Zumbido 245-03. A very light yellow with a large amount of white. This fresh color suggests the outdoors. On small surfaces it accentuates innocence; it gives energy and playfulness to entire walls.

Crisol 001-01. In the o -whites palette, it is ideal to achieve spaciousness. Everything becomes diaphanous and clear. Combine it with light woods to achieve a Nordic style.

Asturias M4-06. A green inspired by the variable physical states of water. In walls it expresses tranquility, but it can be a revitalizing element in transitional structures.

Caimán 199-07. A greenish-blue that transports us to Caribbean beaches, but also artificial environments on movie screens. It is refreshing and communicates stability and elegance.

Agrio 249-06. Belongs to the citrus family. Very close to primary yellow, but with more light. Its vibration promotes creativity and a good mood. Recommended for high-tra ic rooms.

Infanta 085-06. A red of intense saturation tending to orange. This color will show its chromatic versatility when playing with the lighting conditions. It is associated with mysticism, sensuality, and aristocracy. Excellent for accents of color in bedrooms and living rooms.

Pavorreal 178-07. By combining cobalt and cerulean, this blue has a cheerful personality. Outdoors it fosters festive situations; indoors it encourages friendly behaviors.

Omega A3-11. A violet with a liquid and artificial quality. With hints of magenta and mauve, it represents empowerment and selfa irmation; it favors meditation and is perfect for rooms where we reconnect with ourselves.

CO LORES COLORS

Plasma es una paleta que puede cubrir todas las necesidades, ya que tiene combinaciones para todos los gustos. Es alegre y flexible y nos permite fluir naturalmente entre diferentes ambientes exteriores e interiores.

En proyectos residenciales crea suaves transiciones entre áreas comunes y privadas. Crisol y Molusco brindan tranquilidad, ya que naturalmente bajan nuestros niveles de ansiedad y nuestro ritmo cardiaco.

Plasma is a versatile palette for many di erent needs, as it has combinations for all tastes. It is cheerful and flexible and allows us to flow naturally between di erent outdoor and indoor environments.

In residential projects, this palette will help to create smooth transitions between common and private areas. Crisol and Molusco provide tranquility, as they naturally lower our anxiety levels and heart rate.

Infanta, Caimán and Agrio bring personality to the palette; with a fun, playful nudge these colors allow us to go from rest to play and from relaxation to enthusiasm in the same space.

Su materialidad nos recuerda que, al fluir con la realidad, los tabúes pierden sentido y nos volvemos más receptivos hacia el otro, lo trans, lo no binario y las demás manifestaciones de la diversidad.

Plasma is the free state of pure matter, present in the elements of the universe whose qualities are liquid and mutable. Locura y Talavera son dominantes y espontáneos, ideales para crear acentos que se pueden aplicar a muros o herrería. Al combinarlos con tonos como Portafolio e Higuera se consigue equilibrio.

Confeti nos remite a lo digital y a los paisajes artificiales que se crean en el metaverso. Jaspe Rojo y Quetzal son divertidos y audaces, perfectos para habitaciones contemporáneas, aunque también son útiles para aquellas que han mutado su función, como una habitación dedicada al home o ice o al emprendimiento en el hogar.

Cinabrio 087-07. Es un tono rojizo de origen mineral vinculado a la roca incandescente. Remite a texturas satinadas y da acentos dramáticos en interiores.

Ardiente 090-07. Es un rojo estimulante cuya fuerza se origina en el poder renovador del fuego. Ideal para crear un aspecto provocativo pero cálido.

Imaginación Q1-12. Este azul tiene paralelismos con algunos trazos del cielo al amanecer. Puede utilizarse como acento, aunque en áreas de descanso logra atmósferas introspectivas.

Zócalo H5-06. Pertenece a la familia de los grises; es perfecto si buscas un estilo escandinavo cálido y resplandeciente. Tiende al blanco, por lo que da una sensación de amplitud y luminosidad. Ayuda a regenerar rincones ocultos.

Magma G2-12. Recuerda el destello de las brasas que, al sofocarse, se degradan en tonos anaranjados. Al tener más luz, tiende a la alegría. Va muy bien en entornos optimistas de socialización informal.

Poseidón 191-07. Combina lo tropical del verde con la sobriedad del azul. Apela al autoconocimiento y predispone al diálogo. De influencias retro, es sugerente si se usa como acento. Proyecta autoconocimiento en entornos de intimidad.

Banquete 034-07. Es un amarillo de tonos medios que se inspira en elementos orgánicos como las hojas del maíz. Ayuda a la reflexión positiva, resiliencia y comprensión espiritual.

Martillo 312-06. Este gris tiene una cantidad moderada de blanco, por lo que no llega a ser luminoso. Estimula la relajación, pero también es el color del conocimiento, así que va bien en espacios laborales y de innovación.

Acuarela R1-03. Es un azul ligero y luminoso. Da una sensación de amplitud a cualquier espacio. Tiene una cualidad ambivalente: en combinación con azules y violetas otorga tranquilidad y promueve la concentración, pero junto a colores vibrantes da energía.

Cinabrio 087-07. A reddish hue of mineral origin linked to incandescent rock. It reminds us of satin textures and gives dramatic accents in interiors.

Ardiente 090-07. A stimulating red whose strength originates in the renewing power of fire. Ideal for creating a provocative yet warm look.

Imaginación Q1-12. This blue has parallels with traces of the sky at dawn. It can be used as an accent, although in rest areas it achieves introspective atmospheres.

Zócalo H5-06. It belongs to the gray family and is perfect for a warm and bright Scandinavian style. It tends to white, so it gives a feeling of bright spaciousness. Helps to bring back to life dark corners.

Magma G2-12. It recalls the glow of embers that, as they burn, degrade into orange tones. Containing plenty of light, this color tends to bring joy. It goes very well in optimistic environments for informal gatherings.

Poseidón 191-07. A combination of tropical green with the sobriety of blue. It appeals to self-knowledge and encourages conversation. With retro influences, it is intriguing when used as an accent. It projects selfknowledge in intimate environments.

Banquete 034-07. A mid-tone yellow inspired by organic elements such as corn husks. This color encourages positive reflection, resilience, and spiritual understanding.

Esta paleta recuerda los tonos hipnotizantes del fulgor de una llama. Los rojos surgen de los minerales que se recombinan al interior de la Tierra. Los azules son intangibles y los experimentamos como fenómenos ópticos: en los tonos cobalto del amanecer o en ciertos destellos del lapislázuli.

La riqueza de la gama propone acabados y superficies de alto impacto, y acentos explosivos. En entornos públicos es una paleta que, al ser tan llamativa, da visibilidad e invita al diálogo y la apropiación.

Bright Magma is the fiery e ervescence of rock that melts in the underground and flows like lava after a volcanic explosion. Similarly, processes such as feminism arise from oppression but are sublimated into change and empowerment.

This palette is reminiscent of the mesmerizing tones of the glow of a flame. Reds arise from minerals that recombine in the interior of the Earth. Blues are intangible and we experience them as optical phenomena: in the cobalt tones of the sunrise or certain flashes of lapis lazuli.

Moly A5-10. Es un violáceo neutro que, a pesar de no ser un color saturado ni vibrante, apela a la alegría y a los nuevos ciclos. Nos recuerda la primavera y las jacarandas tempranas antes de florecer.

Pichancha 239-02. Este tono cítrico y luminoso; nos comunica sentimientos felices y joviales. Brinda sobriedad y, al mismo tiempo, ligereza. Es un color que no dejará escapar la luz.

Crayón 085-07. Aunque este color tiene amarillo y blanco, el rojo predomina. Es juguetón y seductor, pero de una coquetería ingenua. Es muy protagónico, pero da buenos resultados tanto en acentos como en superficies extensas.

Chupón D2-06. Forma parte de la familia de los rosas. Combinado con tonos oscuros logra atmósferas refinadas; con los cálidos comunica dulzura y delicadeza. Además de blanco, contiene tonos magentas, amarillos y azules.

Minotauro 263-06. Se trata de un café neutro con mezclas de rojo, anaranjado y gris; un color de otoño que nos remite a las tiendas de antigüedades, al tabaco y las especias. Habla de exotismo y atemporalidad.

Sangría 120-07. Este magenta tiene malva al interior. Evoca los tintos de verano, las combinaciones refrescantes de uva, fresas y cítricos. Sugiere calma, ligereza y dualidad.

Viuda Negra 316-07. Nos aporta la oscuridad necesaria después de un día ajetreado. No es la noche profunda, ya que como color contiene un poco de luz, pero nos da la serenidad necesaria para el sosiego.

Moly A5-10. A neutral violet that, despite not being a saturated or vibrant color, evokes joy and new cycles. It reminds us of spring and the first blooming jacaranda flowers.

Pichancha 239-02. This citrus, luminous tone communicates happy and cheerful feelings. It provides sobriety, but at the same time lightness. This color retains the light.

Crayón 085-07. Although this color contains yellow and white, red predominates. It is playful and seductive, but with naive flirtatiousness. It is very prominent but gives good results both in accents and on large surfaces.

Clímax ofrece una paleta balanceada pero no aburrida. Sus colores son como la respiración profunda y pausada que acompaña a la sensualidad.

La gama se caracteriza por su monocromía. Sólida y sobria en conjunto, está formada por colores sexis y placenteros, predominantemente cálidos. La presencia de un neutro como Minotauro y un oscuro como Viuda Negra equilibra toda la composición.

El verde de la paleta alude a lo mágico y terrenal, al musgo, al vetiver, a la humedad que emerge de la tierra viva. Los tonos cafés, en cambio, abren una dimensión a la historia, a libros antiguos y maderas, mientras que el amarillo remite a esa nota ácida que detona sensaciones inesperadas.

Clímax is a balanced but exciting palette. The range of colors is like the deep, slow breathing associated with sensuality.
