The Importance Of The Vet In Your Pet’s Life From a young age – in fact from the moment they come to your house – your pet should be taken for regular visits to the vet you entrust their medical needs with. The good vet will keep proper records and a data base that has all the pertinent details to ensure your pet’s health is always monitored. It becomes a lifelong association. Taking your pet to the vet is the same as humans visiting their doctor. It starts at a young age so the vet gets to know your pet, establishes what possible future issues with their health may be, also to ensure it is fit and healthy for its breed and age. Of course this is the regular 6-monthly or annual visit that needs to be done, just like humans do. Also, during these visits dental health is checked, to make sure there are no underlying problems that may cause future health issues. Good vets today have access to the best machines and equipment such as good xray equipment, for example, to be able to look at fractures, skeletal problems and related issues. Also, they have well-fitted surgeries to do operations on your animals and they will make sure follow-up procedures are scheduled and owners informed of what proper care after surgery entails. The vet is the person in charge of your pet’s health just as you are in charge of their general care. Not all pets need the same care at the same time; the owner should know when a regular visit should be scheduled and they should trust their vet’s instincts with regard to services such as checking not only for the obvious, but also for conditions related to, say, arthritis, and other possible skeletal problems. The vet will also establish quickly whether or not your cat or dog may be suffering from muscular pain and discomfort. Talk to your vet, too, about neutering and spaying and schedule the best time for this.
