Biography The up and coming star, Ilze du Plooy, was born in Pretoria. She grew up in the Strand and Potchefstroom, where she is currently based as a solo artist. Ilze always had a love for the arts and pursued her dreams by song writing, acting and of course singing. Today the 21 year old is focused on her solo career. She is making the most of the opportunities that come across and is constantly working on her career by attending musical theatre workshops in Cape Town. She is also receiving classic vocal training. In November 2011 she started to post videos on Youtube. The videos consist mostly of well known cover songs from artists like Adele, Bryan Adams and Prime Circle, as well as Afrikaans artists like Straatligkinders. Ilze takes this opportunity to display her musical talent on the keyboard as well as her own interpretation of some of the cover songs. She recently reached the 6000 Youtube viewer mark. Her music has already been welcomed and appreciated by the media with interview headlines like “ Engelstem op 21” and “ SA se eie Justin Bieber op Youtube. News 24, Huisgenoot, Volksblad and the Potchefstroom Herald interviewed the talented singer and songwriter. Knysna FM and Puk FM play listed her singles and interviewed her as well. Ilze du Plooy’s music can be classified as an adult contemporary and indie pop genre. Her music reminds one of Adele, with that same boldness in her voice, Norah Jones’s soulful lyrics and Alicia Keys with a blues feel to the melody and powerful rhythm. She and her talented band, which consists of Gerhard du Plooy on drums and Johan Mossel Fourie on bass guitar and guitar, recently recorded their first EP cd.
