GRATEFUL wartime veteran John Seal has received medals to replace those stolen in a callous burglary in his Chichester home. THe 98-year-old war hero, who was burgled in the early hours of Sunday morning as he slept, received the

replacements by special delivery yesterday. Corby MacDonald from South Derbyshire had seen the social media post about Mr Seal's stolen medals on a Facebook group he is a member of. Speaking exclusively to the Chichester Post, he said: "I am a member of the UK Medal Detectives group. I saw the post and knew that we had to help. "THe ones I have sent to John are a
genuine, full-size replacement. I know they are not his, but they are as good as we can get. "Second World War medals were not named, they used to get sent out in a brown box with a slip of paper saying, you have been awarded them. "I just wanted to see an old veteran reunited with what he had earned and won." Mr Seal had won five medals including;

the Italian Star, Africa Star, 1939-1945 medal and the Battle of Britain medal. Mr Seal's most sentimental of the medals was his one for the 40th squadron of the South African airforce where he was part of a team who sent out spitfires and interrogated them on their return. It was here that he had worked with the desert rats during the battle of El Alamein. Turn to page four
