Darron offers a visionary view on a whole new world of windows He lifts lid on thriving family business with eco-friendly approach THERE aren't too many double glazing and conservatory companies that can boast more than 40 years in the industry -- Wayne Windows is one of the exceptions. And managing director Darron Wayne says the company's ability to adapt to the changing business landscape has helped it to flourish since it was formed back in 1975. In the 43 years since Darron's dad Tony started the business – that soon merited a Which? Recommendation -- there have been a whole host of developments to embrace; Wayne Windows has done just that with a visionary view on the direction of style, technology and application. From Wayne Windows' state-of-theart headquarters in Charlwood Street, Bognor Regis, Darron explains his company's attitudes and aspirations. It is very much a family-run concern, with a favourite term used to describe their collective enterprise as "cottage industry". He said: "For too long double-glazing contributed to a betrayal of our buildings, with cheap white plastic products that were economical but offered nothing aesthetically. "THe windows and conservatories we

install are helping to put something back. THe boom and bust era of the 1980s saw people buying and selling property, and then fitting new windows etc, in quick succession. Now we are more likely to stay in a property longer so we want to ensure we have the products that are designed to look the part as well as last and have all of the other benefits. "Of course, being eco-friendly is a huge consideration for us and we very much promote products that boast the 'passive' methodology; that is so highly energy efficient. You'll see a lot of these products, such as the exceptional Heritage range, on TV programmes like Grand Designs. We also pay great heed to recycling all of our waste, too. THe company's success sees customers travelling up to two hours to visit the elegant showroom and place orders after being advised by architects working on their properties that they really have no need to look no further than Wayne Windows. Here they will find Darron's bother Scott, a long-serving surveyor, as well as sales manager Martin Dixon and administration manager Angela Trigger. Darron adds: "We're one big happy family really and I think it shows in our approach and our values."
