SUSANNA LUNA HALVORSEN IN CAUDA VENENUM
Social alienation is a phenomenon characterized by feelings of disconnection and isolation from society, which can arise from a range of social, psychological, and biological factors. Marginalized people, such as those who experience discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, disabilities, or socioeconomic status, may be particularly vulnerable to social alienation from peers.
My graphic novel is a dramatic retelling of how it feels to have obsessive interests as an autistic person and how that can become an isolating experience. Obsessive interests can contribute to social alienation by making it difficult for individuals to relate to others who do not share their interests. Individuals with obsessive interests may also avoid engaging in activities that are not related to their interests, as is portrayed in my book.

I use mold as a motif in my projects because it has been an obsession of mine for half a year. This project is my love letter to mold, because having obsessive interests is not a bad thing and it allows me to create projects like this.
