In view of Paulo Freire's centenary, we will make a large photographic mural in the central region of SP. This tribute will extend to a virtual environment of transmedia connection

In September 2021 Paulo Freire would be one hundred years old. One of the most important thinkers of Latin American philosophical and cultural identity, Freire is a claiming symbol of a critical and loving pedagogy. His utopian ideas - within the scope of what he called possible unprecedented - continue to foster emancipatory processes, inspiring popular education projects and supporting methodologies of centers of excellence worldwide.

We believe that in the face of the semiotic dispute in which we live, actions that promote libertarian and emancipatory thoughts become urgent - including in the iconographic field. In this sense, this project aims to present itself as an invitation to passers-by to a more than opportune dive into the educator's work. It also intends, supported by the emancipatory statement that loving is an act of courage, to stimulate the necessary articulation of struggles between urban cultural actors, in a cultural action for freedom that, as Freire said, means to hope beyond the scope of education.

Raising this panel in celebration of the centenary of this thinker is an initiative to adhere to the multiplicity of actions that reaffirm the figure of the educating philosopher as a referential icon of the present, in contrast to the neoliberal projects of educational dismantling underway in Brazil, circumscribed in the context of global conservatism .

We want to send a fraternal, positive and hopeful message; carried out collaboratively and financed through the collective effort of people committed to Paulo Freire's legacy.

The wall was provided by Condomínio Edifício Santa Rosa located next to the Latin America Memorial (thats a significative cultural center).

TRANSMEDIAL CONNECTION:

We will create a project profile on the newly created virtual platform PLURIVERSO In this way, the mural will become a 'hub', connecting spontaneously to other events related to Paulo Freire's centenary globally.
