SpaceX Marks Milestone
as Starship Successfully Completes Tenth Flight Test
SpaceX achieved another major milestone Tuesday evening as its Starship rocket completed its tenth test flight, marking a significant step toward the development of the world’s first fully reusable launch vehicle.
The mission lifted off at 6:30 p.m. CT from Starbase in South Texas, with the Super Heavy booster igniting all 33 Raptor engines to propel the massive spacecraft into the sky over the Gulf of Mexico. The booster’s performance paved the way for a flawless hot-staging maneuver, as Starship’s upper stage fired its six engines and continued the journey toward space.
Booster Performs Precision Splashdown
After stage separation, the Super Heavy booster executed a controlled boostback burn toward a pre-planned splashdown zone. In its final descent, SpaceX engineers intentionally disabled one of its three central engines, instead relying on a backup engine from the middle ring to complete the landing burn. The booster hovered briefly above the water before shutting down and splashing down softly into the Gulf.
Starship Reaches Key In-Space Milestones

Is Major League Baseball in Central Florida just a dream? At the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce’s quarterly luncheon Thursday, Orlando Dreamers COO Jim Schanorf said it’s not only possible—it’s going to happen.
“Pat took us from the goal line to the opponent’s 15-yard line and now we just need to take it in for a touchdown,” Schanorf told the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce at their quarterly luncheon at the Civic Center on Thursday afternoon.
Schanorf was the featured guest speaker at the sports-themed luncheon and he presented a positive update on his organization’s efforts – which started more than two years ago by an announcement by former Orlando Magic founder Pat Williams and has continued to move forward after Williams’ passing in July of last year.
In his appearance in St. Cloud, Schanorf pointed out that either through relocation or expansion, Orlando was well poised to host a major league franchise.
“Major League Baseball said there would be no talks of expansion until the stadium situations of two cities – Oakland and Tampa Bay were addressed,” he said. “Oakland appears headed for Las Vegas, but Tampa Bay is certainly up in the air.”
The Rays were forced out of their home in Tropicana Field when last year’s Hurricane Milton ripped the roof off the facility. The team ended up playing its home games at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa this year at the New York Yankees spring training facility. In addition, the Rays lease with Tampa is set to expire in 2028.

Orlando Health Air Care has officially introduced a powerful addition to its air ambulance fleet: a larger, state-of-the-art Airbus H145D3 helicopter designed to transport critically ill patients, both children and adults, across Central Florida faster and more efficiently.
Stationed in Apopka, the new helicopter strengthens the healthcare system’s ability to deliver lifesaving care by air to patients being transported to Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC)—Central Florida’s only Level One Trauma Center—and Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
“Our new Air Care helicopter is incredibly special because our patients are at the heart of this design,” said Kelly Nierstedt, president of Orlando Health ORMC and senior vice president of the Orlando region. “The larger cabin space enhances our ability to transport specialty equipment for both children and adults, and the greater lift capacity means we can travel longer distances for our patients.”

The village features both original and replicated structures from the late 1800s, transported from various parts of Osceola County to paint a vivid picture of life before modern conveniences.

Florida Leads Nation in Motorcyclist Fatalities, Outpacing Texas and California, 2019–2023 Data
Motorcyclist fatalities in the United States have surged over the last five years, reaching a record high in 2023. According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Florida consistently recorded the highest number of motorcyclist deaths from 2019 through 2023.
In 2023 alone, Florida reported 668 motorcyclist deaths, more than any other state. Nationwide, over 6,300 riders lost their lives, marking a 26% increase since 2019 and the highest annual total on record.

Student Idea Sparks CPR Training Project in St. Cloud Schools, Led by State Rep. Paula Stark
A first-of-its-kind initiative to make local schools safer has officially launched at St. Cloud Middle School, thanks to the collaboration of State Representative Paula Stark, the Osceola County School District, and St. Cloud Fire Chief Jason Miller.
The program provides hands-only CPR training to staff at both St. Cloud Middle School and St. Cloud High School. Led by the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department, the training ensures teachers and staff are better prepared to respond to emergencies and potentially save lives.
Representative Stark explained that the project has its roots in her Build-a-Bill competition, a civics initiative she introduced to engage middle school students in the legislative process.
“The CPR training idea came about from one of our Build-a-Bill contest winners— Evangeline Marrero, Aaliyah Rodriguez, and Ella Wetzel—who presented this idea as their bill in 2023,” Stark said.
“The Build-a-Bill contest is something near and dear to my heart. I started this project when I was first elected as a way of connecting with our students and getting them to engage in civics and government.”

Powerball Jackpot Soars to $950 Million, Sixth-Largest in Game History
The Powerball jackpot is once again making headlines as it closes in on the billion-dollar mark. For Saturday night’s drawing, the jackpot is estimated at $950 million, with a cash option of $428.9 million—the game’s sixth-largest prize and the biggest advertised jackpot in over a year.
The massive prize comes after no ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing, which produced the winning numbers 9, 12, 22, 41, 61 and Powerball 25. The Power Play® multiplier was 4.

In a dramatic, weather-delayed opener that tested patience and resilience, the UCF Knights secured a pivotal 17–10 victory over Jacksonville State on Thursday night at Acrisure Bounce House. Now after spending the last two years as Athletics Director at Tohopekaliga, Simon is back at “The Ranch” and says that attitude is coming back. “We had a great month of drills and after the spring game, I know a couple of our players talked about being sore. I just told them that they better get used to it, because that was the way we things are going to be.”
Simon, who recorded a 33-29 record in his first stint and is the school’s all-time wins leader, was able to reassemble his entire staff from his last year at Harmony and said little to nothing will change in his coaching style the second time around.
“We spent the spring evaluating our talent and will do so in fall camp,” Simon noted. “We will figure out what we can do well on both sides of the ball and adjust our game plans accordingly.”
Although the Longhorns did lose some talented players on both offense and defense, Simon said he felt good about what he has returning. “Our offensive line is going to be one of the strong points of our team. We have a couple of senior leaders back and a bunch of talented young guys coming up.

Osceola County Friday Night Lights Week 2: Osceola, Lake Mary to Collide in Battle of State Powerhouses
Its only Week 2 in Osceola County Football, but its already big-game time as Osceola (10) hosts Lake Mary (1-0) at 7 p.m. Friday night at Markus Paul Stadium.
It will be a matchup of two perennial state powers.
Last season, Osceola rode a 12-3 season all the way to the FHSAA Class 6A State Championship game; while Lake Mary also went 12-3 and made it to the Class 7A state final. It is also return match-up of a 2024 game where Lake Mary scored two late touchdowns to beat Osceola. It was a game where Kowboys star running back Taevion Swint was injured and only got four carries in that loss.
Both teams opened their seasons last week with impressive wins.
Osceola manhandled Treasure Coast 35-0, in a game that was ended after three quarters when a TC player suffered a serious injury and had to be airlifted to a local hospital.
Osceola dominated the game on defense, scored touchdowns on two punt returns and ran for over 200 yards on just 21 carries. “Other than our two offensive turnovers inside the 10 that probably cost us touchdowns, I thought we played a solid, all-around game.” Pinellas said.
In a matchup of two MaxPreps top 20 teams in Florida (all classifications), Norland missed a field goal at the final horn and Lake Mary held on for a 30-29 win.

Jeffrey Sinophat Take Flight as the Team’s Superman?
For six seasons, Osceola’s vaunted running game was powered by “Supermen” wearing an “S” on their backs — the Swint brothers, Ja’Randy and Taevion, who combined for 7,600 rushing yards and 96 touchdowns from 2019 to 2024. This fall, while opponents may welcome the end of the Swint era, they’ll face another looming ‘S’ as senior Jeffrey Sinophat steps into the spotlight, ready to carry the Kowboys’ ground attack in 2025.
Although he played hurt most of the season and ended up in the second chair behind Swint, Sinophat still managed to put up big numbers, rushing for almost 1000 yards and nine touchdowns. Head coach Eric Pinellas was almost giddy when talking about Sinophat’s potential.
“He had a great season last year and I don’t think anyone knew he was playing with a torn labrum,” Pinellas said. “He had surgery two days after the championship game and worked his tail off in rehab. He was given a clean bill of health and is 100% ready to go this year. The prospects of having him totally healthy is exciting.”
Osceola option attack has always relied on more than one back and Sinophat should have plenty of help. Junior Jamarie Williams averaged more than 14 yards a carry in a reserve role and Jaxson Hardnett – who also had a big season – transfers over from Tohopekaliga. Alijah Jenkins and Alvarez Toussaint (Liberty transfer) could also figure in the backfield to give Osceola plenty of speed, athleticism and depth.
St. Cloud Bulldogs 2025 Football Preview: Transfers Could Define Bulldogs’ 2025 Season
Much like college football with the transfer portal and professional football with free agency, the school choice initiative enacted a few years ago by the state of Florida has dramatically changed the face of high school sports.
And while there are still rules against school representative recruiting players from other schools, an athlete is still pretty much given carte blanche to transfer if he desires. In his three previous years as head coach at St. Cloud, Mike Short has been on both sides of the equation.
Last year he saw all-county kicker Adrian Gonzalez and lineman Conner Howse transfer to Osceola; while two years ago star receiver Alex Springs transferred in. “It’s really a weird situation,” Short says. “If a kid wants to go somewhere for an academic program, I’m in favor of letting him do that. But to leave your school and your classmates just to play sports at another school still doesn’t feel right to me. At the end of the day, the rule is the rule and we simply do not have control over who comes and goes.”
Personal feelings aside, Short says transfers may have a big impact on his 2025 team. St. Cloud graduated 75% of its offense from it’s 5-5 team last year, including Springs, electric running back TJ Griffin and record-setting quarterback Logan King. The departures left significant holes heading into spring ball last May.
Osceola County Supervisor of Elections Launches Fourth Biannual Calendar Art Contest
The Osceola County Supervisor of Elections Office has announced the start of its fourth biannual calendar art contest, inviting all K-12 students in Osceola County to showcase their creativity while promoting accurate voter information.
The winning artwork will be featured in the Elections Office’s 2026–2027 calendar, which will include key election dates and information for voters. Submissions must be on 8.5” x 11” paper in landscape orientation and contain accurate voter details without endorsing any political party or candidate.
The deadline to submit artwork to the Elections Office is October 14, 2025.
A public gallery event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Supervisor of Elections Operations Center, located at 2570 Partin Settlement Road in Kissimmee.
Community members will have the opportunity to view the submissions and vote for their favorite pieces. Artwork selected during the gallery night election will be featured in the upcoming calendar.

Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Welcomes 22 New Deputies, Dispatchers, and Staff
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office continues to expand its team, officially swearing in 22 new deputies during a ceremony held today at the Sheriff’s Office. The additions mark another step in strengthening public safety and enhancing service to the residents of Osceola County.
Alongside the new deputies, the Sheriff’s Office also welcomed 10 new 9-1-1 dispatchers, who will serve as the critical first point of contact between citizens and law enforcement officers in the field. Their role is essential in ensuring timely and effective responses to emergencies.

Saint Cloud Resident to Shine in Times Square for National Down Syndrome Awareness
Veronica “Ronnie” Hastings of Saint Cloud will soon see her smile light up one of the most iconic locations in the world — Times Square in New York City. On Saturday, September 6, Hastings will be featured in the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) Times Square Video Presentation, an annual event that showcases the lives and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome from across the globe.
The one-hour video, which will include more than 500 photographs of children, teens, and adults with Down syndrome from all 50 states and 11 countries, will be displayed on two large Jumbotron screens above the Dos Caminos restaurant in Father Duffy Square. Hastings’ photo was chosen from over 2,600 submissions worldwide, and she is pictured at just seven months old in the nature preserve near her home.
Thanks to support from ClearChannel Outdoor, the video will be livestreamed on the NDSS Facebook page from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. ET on September 6. The presentation serves as the official kickoff for the New York City Buddy Walk®, held later that day at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park.

Launching Friday, August 29, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando will introduce fans to the grisly Funhouse of Art the Clown—first seen in Terrifier 2—where terror takes center stage. Packed with iconic scenes, stomach-turning settings like the Clown Café and a revolting holiday nightmare, the haunted house will immerse guests in the blood-soaked world of Miles County, New York, with twisted characters including Vicky and the Little Pale Girl lurking around every corner.
Created by writer-director Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone, the Terrifier series has become a cult horror phenomenon since its debut in 2008. Now, with three feature films and a fourth in development, the franchise continues to push the boundaries of horror—and the haunted house adaptation promises to do the same.
Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando runs on 48 select nights through November 2 and features 10 chilling haunted houses, scare zones, live shows, and more. Guests can purchase a variety of ticket options, including single-night tickets, Express Passes, R.I.P. Tours, Premium Scream Night (August 28 only), and theHorror Tour.
