SCFR Launches Little Libraries Program

St. Cloud Fire Rescue has started a Fire PALS Little Libraries program, providing free books and fire safety information to children of the community. Lt. David Miller came up with the idea of having the little libraries around the city. From his idea has grown a program that has garnered several community partnerships. Local artist Eric Frost has hand-painted both of the first two little libraries. Home Depot has donated supplies to help build more little libraries, and the local Rotary Club and Main Street have expressed interest in getting involved as well. The local firefighters union donated the second little library. The first one was placed at Station 31 on 10th Street at Minnesota; the second one is at Cannery Park. The libraries are stocked with coloring and activity books on fire safety, as well as other children’s books, along with plastic fire hats and badges. Several additional locations will be coming over the next few months.
