“We are incredibly grateful for Commissioner Grieb and this gift that is going to let us do what we do to make sure everyone in the community is safe, healthy, and happy,” Downey said. Hope Partnership has not announced where the development will be as they wait on approval from HUD, but has said it will be centrally located on U.S. 192 and have easy access to nearby medical facilities and a grocery store.

The $500,000 pledged by the commissioner will be added to the state’s contribution of $500,000 and the $1 million in federal funds already committed to the project. According to Chief Executive Officer with Hope Partnership Mary Lee Downey, the affordable hotel conversion will create at least 30-units for very low, low and moderate income Osceola County residents and will be designated for families at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

“These three initiatives will build on our efforts to increase recruitment and retention of high quality teachers. Great teachers don’t become great teachers because they are sitting in a university lecture hall. What makes a teacher great is being in the classroom, watching other teachers, and seeing what works,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “With today’s announcement we will be helping more teachers gain that critical firsthand experience and we will be recruiting first responders and veterans to continue their service in the classroom. Our students will greatly benefit from these programs.”

Governor DeSantis proposes recruiting retired military, first responders to add more Florida teachers

The proposals include a recruitment initiative targeted to bring retired first responders and retired veterans to the classroom through fee waivers and bonuses; an apprenticeship program that provides bonuses to teachers for mentoring aspiring teachers with an associate’s degree to gain hands-on teaching experience; and a scholarship program for K-12 teachers interested in teaching dual enrollment courses on high school campuses.

Florida Law Florida law favors parenting plans which support the parent-child relationship through frequent contact with both parents. When a parent is seeking to move a child at least 50 miles away from their current residence, he or she is asking for a relocation. To make this modification to the parenting plan the requesting parent must file a petition for relocation with details about where the child will be moving, the reason for the move, and a post-relocation time-sharing plan.

How Can a Divorced Parent Move with Children?

When Florida parents enter into a parenting plan, there are usually detailed provisions concerning how they will share their time with and make decisions concerning their children. If a parent wants to relocate with their children after this plan is in place, they will have to return for the court’s approval. Making this type of modification can be complicated especially when the other parent does not agree with the move.

Understanding the risks of falling or suffering an actual fall can make you fearful, leading you to curtail activities. Remember, falls do happen. Ironically, avoiding normal activities and exercises may actually increase your risk for falls and serious injury.

Proper follow-up care can be instrumental in helping to identify and minimize risks for future falls.

Fear of Falling?

We are all susceptible to falls. But, older adults have an increased risk of falling, and the harm sustained can be more complicated than just your average cut, scrape or bruise. Serious injuries may occur in the form of fractured or broken bones and internal bleeding. Each year, more than three million people 65 and older are treated in emergency rooms for fall injuries. Unfortunately, fewer than half of them follow up with their primary physician about the accident, increasing the likelihood of another fall.

• Foot pain or poor footwear—increase likelihood of tripping/falling.
