Osceola Arts Unveils “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical” – A Delightful Blend of Holiday Turmoil and Heartfelt Warmth That cherished holiday time of the year is upon us, and Osceola Arts is set to infuse magic into the traditional Christmas pageant with “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical.” Running from December 1 to December 17, 2023, this jolly and heartwarming musical is set to capture the hearts of audiences with its mix of mischief, humor, and holiday spirit.

In this festive production, the town’s most mischievous kids, the Herdmans, decide they want starring roles in the annual Christmas pageant. Known for their wild behavior, the Herdmans come with their own set of script changes, turning the traditional pageant upside down. But as the town comes together, something magical happens. Witness as the spirit of Christmas truly comes to life in their small town, reminding everyone of the season’s true meaning.

NEWS McClung Magic: Record-Breaking 44 Points Propel Osceola to Comeback Victory Against Memphis Hustle Mac McClung scored a franchise-record 44 points, as the Osceola Magic defeated the Memphis Hustle 125-116 at Osceola Heritage Park Friday night in Kissimmee.

McClung broke the previous scoring record of 43 points, set by Andrew Rowsey on February 1, 2020 vs the Capital City Go-Go. District 2 Osceola County Commissioner Viviana Janer is inviting the community to a free, drive-thru Thanksgiving Dinner Distribution on Saturday, November 18 beginning at 10am at Archie Gordon Memorial Park in BVL. The Thanksgiving meal will include a frozen turkey and will be distributed to families on a first-come, firstserved basis while supplies last.

Commissioner Viviana Janer for District 2 has led numerous food events in the BVL area, which are typically held at Archie Gordon Memorial Park, located at 420 Buenaventura Blvd. in Buenaventura Lakes. NEWS Station 45, a Milestone in Safety: Osceola County Officially Places 17th Fire Station in Service on Tuesday Osceola County officially expanded the number of fire stations it operates on Tuesday when it inaugurated Station 45, its 17th in the county and the second new fire station added this year. Station 67 on Boggy Creek Road near Austin-Tindall Park was placed into service in June.

Station 45, which aligns with the department’s master plan to accommodate the rapid growth occurring in that area of the county, is located at 4490 Calypso Cay Way near State Road 535 and sets a record for the highest number of stations in service since the inception of the professional Fire Rescue and EMS service in 1989. The station is staffed with 21 people, 7 per shift, 3 shifts per day. Stations that have a ‘tower ladder engine’ are staffed with an additional 3 people.

Playoff Time for the Kowboys, Bowl Time for the Bulldogs, Tigers!

Following an impressive road win over West Orange in their regular season finale, the Osceola Kowboys will participate in the FHSAA Playoffs for an impressive 17th consecutive time when they travel to Treasure Coast this Friday to take on the Titans (7-2) at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, fresh of their big 21-0 win over Harmony, St. Cloud (7-3) earned a Bowl Game. They will host Lake Region (5-5) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the first game played on the Bulldogs new turf field; while Tohopekaliga (5-5) will attempt to end the season on a positive note when they play a Bowl Game at Lake Howell at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

St. Bulldogs Take Soldier City Classic and Coveted Brass Bugle Trophy After Blanking Harmony 21-0 For the fourth time in five years and the 10th time since the rivalry began in 2005, the Brass Bugle Trophy is headed back to St. Cloud High. The Bulldogs earned it with a 21-0 win over arch-rival Harmony in the 19th playing of the Soldier City Classic before a big crowd at Austin Tindall Park on Friday night.

“That’s an ugly trophy,” a grinning St. Cloud coach Mike Short said as his players passed it around for pictures. “But it’s going to look great in our trophy case for the next year.

We’ve had a really good season but this is the game that makes it a great season.”

Parkinson’s Support in Action: Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute offering free community exercise classes for Parkinson’s patients Local patients diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease now have access to free fitness classes tailored to their medical needs, thanks to the Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute and grant funding from the Parkinson Association of Central Florida. Patients do not need a physician referral to join the classes.

The fitness classes meet every other Monday from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm near the Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute, with Orlando Health neurologic physical therapists providing the exercise instruction. The classes include aerobic exercise, strength training, balance training, and more. Attendees should wear active clothes and bring water. They are also asked to have a care partner attend with them if they require additional physical assistance.

NEWS St. Cloud Mayor Nathan Blackwell Appointed to Florida League of Cities Legislative Committee City of St. Cloud Mayor Nathan Blackwell has been appointed to serve on the Florida League of Cities Legislative Committee as the Tri-County League of Cities representative.

The Legislative Committee reviews the recommended legislative priorities of the League’s five legislative policy committees. Based on this review, the Legislative Committee votes on a proposed Legislative Platform, which is then submitted to the full League membership for consideration and adoption.

Mayor Blackwell also serves on FLC’s Board of Directors, and is the first St. Cloud Council member to do so.

But before you start working out, it helps to know which bone-strengthening exercises deliver the greatest benefit.

Osteoporosis — bone-density loss — affects one in three women older than 50, and one in five men will experience osteoporotic fractures in their lifetimes.

Osteoporosis slowly weakens your bones to the point where they easily break. It’s referred to as a “silent disease” because you often don’t know it’s happening until you break a bone. Osteoporosis commonly causes fractures in the hip, spine and wrist.

WHY WE LOSE BONE MASS As a living tissue, bones continually rebuild themselves to maintain strength. How? Your body breaks down existing bone and then restores it with new bone tissue.

It also helps to understand “the bone turnover cycle.” When you’re young, you build more bone than you lose. But as you age, you start to lose more bone than you build.

For women, bone loss increases after menopause as they lose hormones, causing a precipitous decline in bone mineral density. For men, especially those with low testosterone, osteoporosis usually happens a bit later — generally around age 65 or 70.

The development of osteoporosis is accelerated during this natural aging process and causes the bones to become thinner, more brittle and subject to breaks during a fall.
