KUA to Host Free Movie in the Park Featuring ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse’ at Kissimmee’s Lakefront Park Kissimmee Utility Authority, in partnership with the City of Kissimmee, will host a free Movie in the Park event, Friday, Feb. 2 at the Veterans Lawn of Kissimmee Lakefront Park as part of KUA’s annual 6-month Movie in the Park series. The event will feature “Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse,” shown on a giant 50-foot screen.

Activities begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the movie at 7 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. The movie will also feature closed captioning for the hearing impaired.

KUA’s inflatable Kids Power Zone, a craft station, a photo booth, free popcorn, and prize giveaways will all be part of tonight’s free event. Onsite concessions will also be available.

Through hands-on demonstrations, attendees will also learn how to lower their monthly electric bills and learn about other KUA programs.

Texas, Florida Top Growth States Again in 2023, According to U-Haul Migration Data Trends Florida ranked just behind Texas in netting the largest number of movers in oneway U-Haul equipment in 2023, marking the third consecutive year the two states have finished atop the U-Haul Growth Index. After Texas and Florida were North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Idaho, Washington, Arizona, Colorado and Virginia round out the top 10 states for growth.

For the fourth year in a row, California reflected the largest net loss of one-way movers. Other bottom-five states for growth are Michigan, New Jersey, Illinois and Massachusetts. New York ranks 43rd.

U-Haul calculates growth states by each state’s net gain (or loss) of one-way equipment from customer transactions in a calendar year. The U-Haul Growth Index is compiled from more than 2.5 million one-way U-Haul truck, trailer and U-Box moving container transactions that occur annually across the U.S. and Canada.

“While one-way transactions in 2023 remained below the record-breaking levels we witnessed immediately following the pandemic, we continued to see many of the same geographical trends from U-Haul customers moving between states,” said John “J.T.” Taylor, U-Haul International president. “Migration to states in the Southeast and Southwest is still very pronounced. Demand for one-way equipment out of certain markets in the Northeast, Midwest and West Coast mirrors what we have seen during recent moving cycles. Wherever DIY customers go, and whatever mobility and selfstorage needs they have in 2024, U-Haul will be there with solutions.”

Orlando Health Network launched innovative care models in 2023 Orlando Health Network launched various innovative health care models in 2023 to enhance the quality of patient care. Since its inception in 2013, the network has generated more than $165 million in savings to patients, payers, employers and taxpayers, according to the Clinically Integrated Network Value Report 2023.

The recently released 2023 report details how the network, part of the Orlando Health hospital system, launched multiple initiatives during 2023 to ensure that the nearly 300,000 patients it serves in Central and West Florida receive timely, efficient, and effective medical care from more than 6,600 multispecialty providers.

“Our 2023 Clinically Integrated Network Value Report showcases our myriad innovative care models, clinical and quality programs, and strong performance across value-based arrangements in the past year,” said Erik Walker, MD, board chairman, Orlando Health Network. “Now serving nearly 300,000 patients, Orlando Health Network achieved notable accomplishments for the tenth year in a row through the thoughtful collaboration with our dedicated providers and health system partners. On behalf of our network, I am once again humbled to share these efforts and their accompanying achievements.”

Initiatives launched by the network in 2023 include the Orlando Health Support Team for Aftercare and Resources Outpatient Centers, which are designed to effectively manage the post-hospitalization and advanced pharmacy needs of patients.

A Special ‘Baby Delivery’ by St. Cloud Fire Rescue Station 32 Leads to ‘Stork Club Membership Honor Members of St. Cloud Fire Rescue Station 32 are the newest members of a very special club, the Stork Club.

The St. Cloud team earned this honor following their successful assistance in the delivery of a baby on December 3, 2023, while on the way to the hospital.

New Florida ‘Protect the Panther’ specialty license plate now available to Florida motorists A new Protect the Panther license plate is now available to Florida motorists, and features a striking photograph taken by Carlton Ward in 2018 of the first female panther documented north of the Caloosahatchee River since 1973, along with her kitten. The new license plate can be purchased at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles or by checking with your local tax collector office for availability.

The FWC is reminding the public that purchasing a Protect the Panther license plate isn’t the only way motorists can help panthers, drivers can also help by following all posted speed limits, particularly in panther zones, which are in place in several counties across south Florida to coincide with areas where panthers are known to cross. Panther speed zones help protect both Florida panthers and motorists from vehicle collisions and potential injury.

96-unit affordable housing project breaks ground in West Kissimmee, Osceola County and City of Kissimmee help fund development A $33.9 million 96unit affordable housing community is coming to West Vine Street in Kissimmee that will consist of four threestory buildings and a free standing clubhouse with a pool, cabana and other amenities. St. Cloud Bulldogs Upset Poinciana Eagles To Take Take First Orange Belt Conference Title in Boys Basketball When it comes to Osceola County high school sports, winning an Orange Belt Conference championship traditionally comes with a subdued celebration, a few highfives and then a photo opportunity with the trophy.

But when St. Cloud took down Poinciana, 43-36, to take the 2024 OBC boys basketball championship on Friday night, it sparked a wild celebration between players and coaches, as family members and fans stormed the court in an impromptu party that lasted well over 30 minutes.

The St. Cloud’s reaction was more than understandable.

Heading into this year, the Bulldogs had endured a streak of consecutive losing seasons that has lasted more than two decades. On top of that, they had never won a boys’ basketball OBC championship and were considered far from a threat to win the title – being seeded fourth heading into the tournament.

The Bulldogs responded by taking down #5 Gateway in the quarterfinals (47-40) and #1 Harmony in the semifinals (54-52) before completing the sweep with the win over the second-seeded Eagles.
