FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EMERGING LOCAL ARTISTS ARE CELEBRATED IN THE RED BULL CURATES: THE CANVAS COOLER PROJECT National Tour Unites Orlando’s Most Innovative Artists with Local Venues to Create Standout Pieces of Art
WHAT:
Kicking off the third year of its national tour, Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project will stop in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday, July 24, 2014, and pair 20 handpicked local artists with venue owners from some of the city’s hottest bars, lounges and restaurants. Selected artists will be given a one-day challenge to transform a blank, canvas-wrapped Red Bull cooler into an inspired work of art customized for permanent display at each venue. The art created will be exhibited in a one-night only public showcase at Orchid Garden at Church Street Station. Attending guests and a panel of judges will vote on each piece, ultimately selecting two artists to represent their City at SCOPE Art Show, running concurrently with Art Basal Miami Beach come December. In addition to the two Orlando artists selected by a renowned panel of judges the night of the showcase, two additional Orlando artists will be entered into the People’s Choice Award pool, which gives one more artist the opportunity to show their work at SCOPE Art Show. The two artists will be chosen based upon the number of social media mentions using their custom hashtag on Twitter the night of the event, and the People’s Choice Award winner will be announced in November. The Orlando exhibition is the fifth of this national art tour of eight cities, six of which are new stops this year as Red Bull Curates aims to expand its reach in providing emerging artists from all over the country a chance to show on an international stage. The tour has visited Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland, Denver and New Orleans, and plans to continue with additional exhibitions in Houston and Philadelphia, honoring a diverse group of artists from mixed disciplines including fine art, street art, graphic design and more. By combining social media, local industry and a no-boundaries stance on art style, this forward-thinking art tour has set a new tone for taking local artists communities and placing them on a global platform.
