BRIDGES OF LIGHT FOUNDATION WORKING TO SEND ORLANDO MASS SHOOTING VICTIMS’ CHILDREN TO COLLEGE FOR FREE Orlando-based charity launching fund to provide educational expenses and support for more than a dozen children impacted by the tragedy Orlando, Fla. (June 23, 2016) – As part of its continuing support of the Orlando community, the Bridges of Light Foundation has established the Bridges of Light Victims Education Fund to aid the children impacted by the recent mass shooting in Orlando. The Bridges of Light fund will provide educational support for the families of at least 14 children who lost or nearly lost a parent in the attack at Pulse nightclub. Bridges of Light will seek donations for the fund, which will go toward the children’s educational expenses, as well as work with the Florida Prepaid College Board to provide college tuition for each child. “In keeping with our foundation’s mission of providing educational support for Central Florida children in need, we are eagerly joining the Orlando community in rushing to the aid of the shooting victims, specifically the growing number of children impacted by the tragedy,’’ said Bridges of Light Foundation founder Stacey Papp. “It’s our goal to ensure these children’s futures don’t become another casualty of this horrific event but instead become an enduring testament to the resilience, compassion and generosity of the Orlando community.’’ Anyone interested in contributing to the Bridges of Light Victims Education Fund should visit www.bridgesoflightfoundation.org. Established in 2004, the Bridges of Light Foundation ‘s primary objective is to provide educational and financial resources for abandoned, abused and neglected Central Florida children within the foster care system. The foundation achieves this through a variety of ways, including a Summer Camp Program, a Closet of Care which provides fundamental home and school supplies, and an Educational Tutoring Program, which prepares children to graduate high school and advance to higher education or pursue their careers. The foundation partners with Great Oaks Village and Carver Middle School to support these programs.
