LAST MATCH RECAP Playing their first of two matches in a four-day span this week, the Portland Timbers fell 4-1 to D.C. United before 18,219 fans at Audi Field on Aug. 15, snapping the team’s five-game unbeaten run away from home in league play, dating back to May 5. Forward Samuel Armenteros scored the team’s lone goal in the match.
Providence Park opened on April 14, 2011, in front of a sold-out crowd in the Timbers first-ever home match as an MLS team. The club proceeded to sell out all of its regular-season home games in the team’s first eight MLS seasons. Spanning the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the Timbers compiled an MLS-club record 22-game nbeaten streak (12-0-10) at Providence Park from April 6, 2013 to June 1, 2014. The streak ranks as the third-longest all-time in MLS history.
