LAST MATCH RECAP The Timbers conceded a goal in each half – including a late penalty kick – in a 2-0 loss against MLS-expansion side Orlando City SC in front of sellout crowd of 21,144 fans at Providence Park on April 12. The loss, Portland’s first home loss of the season, ended the team’s home unbeaten run at seven consecutive matches, dating back to last season. Despite finishing with an 18-14 advantage in shots, including a 4-3 edge in shots on goal, Portland conceded the opening goal in the 30th minute and Orlando City added an 85th-minute penalty kick.
Providence Park opened on April 14, 2011, in front of a sold-out crowd in the Timbers first-ever home match as an MLS team. The club proceeded to sell out all of its regular-season home games in the team’s first four MLS seasons. Spanning the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the Timbers compiled an MLS-club record 22-game unbeaten streak (12-0-10) at Providence Park from April 6, 2013 to June 1, 2014. The streak ranks as the third-longest all-time in MLS history.
