Library Wishing you all a relaxing Christmas break. I’ve sent out a PDF with these brilliant books which might be of interest to keep your teenagers busy over the holidays. Please don’t worry about any overdue library books, these can be returned when we return to school in the New Year.

Remember that students have access to a range of online resources and e-books via Firefly on the library page.

Do you like to watch movies that are based on books over the Christmas holidays? Helen Smith, the

News Christmas Concert 2021 Tuesday 7th December at RADA Theatre 6.30pm Last year our Christmas Concert was socially distanced, and performed to all via a recording!

This year the PPS Christmas Concert was back with a bang! We returned to RADA Studio Theatre with an appreciative audience full of family members and staff. There has been many hours of rehearsals put into this event, and it did not fail to disappoint.

We had a record number of performances in our programme and it was a delight to witness the variety of skills on display. Some of our experienced performers leading the way with confidence and assured acts, whilst it was really pleasing to see so many students make their PPS performance debuts. A special mention to our

PVS students who contributed to the evening for the first time. There were many highlights, too many to mention, but what I will say is the school is continuing to churn out an array of talented musicians! Congratulation to each and every one of our performers for making it a special heart-warming festive event!

News English Literature On Wednesday afternoon, Year 10 Literature headed to The Old Vic with Ms Baig, Mr Whiteside and Ms Boyce to see Jack Thorne's adaptation of Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol. It was a distinctly Christmassy experience and brought their 19th Literature text to life!

Everyone left the performance "all in a glow" (just like Scrooge's nephew, Fred) after seeing the streets of Victorian London and the newly redeemed Scrooge right in front of their eyes!

News English as an Additional Language Egor Pertsev in Year 9 has made great progress since the start of this academic year and I am very proud of him. Here is a sample of descriptive writing which he has completed in the run up to the

writing assessment.

News The mysterious forest has kept a secret for hundreds of years and countless verdant

wands are swinging in the arboreal air. This place is incredibly magical, so much so that you can feel it from your core of your being to your fingertips.

The mountains are gentle giants, protecting the soul of this land and whispering to each other. Crystalline, the snow on top of the mountains looks like the frosting on top of a mouth-watering cake.

Solitary, the pine trees are soldiers guarding their land for centuries and are definitely not planning to retire any time soon. The fragrant scent of the trees inundates the whole valley, like an invisible blanket. It is the smell of Christmas!

Sleepy, the lake reflects the majestic mountains and the warm atmosphere inside the chalet, totally unaware of the hundreds of fish snoozing deep in the water. The creaky bridge stretches across the half-frozen water, connecting dreams and hopes from shore to shore.

Sports report Senior House Football Report

On Tuesday 30th November year 10 & 11 boys competed in their much-anticipated senior house football competition – the last ever house football tournament for our year 11’s! It was an entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable morning with a number of tense, closely fought matches between the houses. There were crunching last ditch tackles, long range efforts, mazy runs and some eye pleasing ‘tiki taka’ style passing on display – all things you hope to see in a tournament!

There were over fifty players from years 10 and 11 on Regent’s Park’s hybrid surface, playing 9 v 9. The tournament was organised on a round robin format, with each

house playing each other once and the winning team being decided on points, with goal difference to split any teams on equal points.

There were a number of outstanding individual performances on display. Kai Ibrahim was lively in every game, using his pace effectively and whipping in some dangerous crosses. Sylvan Farmer seems to be growing in confidence week after week and put in some solid performances at centre back.

Haidar Jebara was a constant menace and came away with the senior football golden boot! Player of the tournament goes to James Harman who had an excellent all-round performance; he made great driving runs, showed creativity with his passing and scored 3 goals including the goal of the tournament – a long range pile driver into the top corner!

Sports report Year 8 & 9 House Football

On Friday 3rd December PPS year 8 & 9 boys competed in their keenly awaited house football tournament! The boys created a fantastic atmosphere and showed great team spirit throughout and there was some high-quality football on display from all of the houses. There were silky skills, brilliant goals, big tackles and some awesome saves on display across all games - all things you hope to see in a top tournament! As with the senior tournament, the houses played in a round robin in a 7 aside format. When all the goals and points were totted up the results were as follows:
