Chestnut Roast and Orchard Harvest

Chestnut harvest season is at its peak in mid-October when farms celebrate with chestnut roasts over an open fire. This is the most delicious way to enjoy them! Attend an annual Chestnut Roast at a farm near Hood River and try the Italian tradition of adding a chestnut to a glass of red wine to marry the flavors. Wine and U-pick chestnuts are available for purchase. Picking chestnuts consists of waiting for them to fall and then gently stepping on them to remove their tough outer husks. Bring money for purchases and an early group lunch in Hood River. Mobility Rating: This trip is not accessible to those using a wheelchair, walker or motorized scooter. We will be on uneven terrain in a chestnut orchard. Location: Matt Dishman Community Center Day/Time: Su, 10:00am-5:00pm Dates: 10/13 Cost: $31 Course: 1113838
