Meet Our Instructors Don Beadling has taught for Portland Parks & Recreation for over 15 years. He studied music theory and composition at Portland Community College and performs a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from metal, jazz, acoustic finger-style, blues and bluegrass. Sam Cooper has expertise is in the folk/rock/pop realm. He has toured internationally as a multi-instrumentalist in other people’s bands, and has toured nationally with his own music. Proficient to expert at guitars, vocals, keyboards, banjo, electric bass, mandolin, violin, and drums. One aspect of his philosophy as a private music teacher is to let the students participate in programming their own curriculum. He finds lessons are much more fun and productive when the student has an active role in determining what instruments, styles, and skills they work on.
