Portland Parks & Recreation|Adaptive & Inclusive Recreation (AIR) program offers access to recreational services, through scheduled activities and inclusion, that are designed to assist people in enhancing the quality of life and promote greater functional independence for people with disabilities.

Day Support Activities Portland Parks & Recreation offers a Day Support Activities program for participants 50+ with Intellectual Disabilities.

Make new friends through integration, social interaction, leisure activities, volunteering and community outings.

INCLEMENT WEATHER PP&R classes, activities, rentals, and sports events may be canceled due to inclement weather, such as ice, snow, or extreme heat. Check with your PP&R facility for the most current information via phone or online at portlandparks.org. Some recreation programs may run as conditions and staff availability allow. Safety is a major factor in determining operations at each PP&R facility. PP&R facilities, our social media outlets, and our website will all feature operating information including opening and closing times.

Any person who believes they have been aggrieved by an unlawful discriminatory practice may file a complaint with the Bureau or the City. HOW TO REGISTER Call 503-823-2883 to register for AIR classes and trips. Classes can be registered online.

SCHOLARSHIPS/FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Financial assistance is available for City of Portland residents that apply and meet standard eligibility requirements. Scholarship Applications are available at any community center or online at portlandoregon.gov/ parks/scholarship.

WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS Please notify us at least five (5) days, unless otherwise specified, before the start of your activity so that we can refund or credit your account for the registration fee. Prepaid materials and admission tickets cannot be refunded. Participants needing to withdraw after the program has begun are offered a prorated credit or refund based upon when the request is made.

GUIDE TO INCLUSION SERVICES—A Team Effort PARENT/ GUARDIAN

Monthly Dance

Ages 16 and up Have fun dancing to a DJ or a band. Socialize with friends, both new and old. Refreshments are provided. Caregiver and family get in free but donations are kindly accepted to help with the cost. Group and Foster home staff must stay to assist their participants in the dance, unless prior arrangements have been made with AIR by calling 503-307-4131.

Due to large number of participants who attend the dance, AIR staff are only able to supervise participant who are in the auditorium. AIR Staff are unable to aid participants who need close supervision.

Senior/Adaptive Swim

Come join us! You can use our warm water pool to swim laps, do your own exercises, walk with or against the current channel and use the whirl pool spa. It’s a great time to meet others and have a quiet time to exercise. All adults and seniors are welcome with paid admission. Leisure pool only.

Bowling for Fun

Ages 12 and up Have fun with your friends while knocking down pins. Beginners to advanced bowlers are welcome. Bring $6 for one game or $12 for two. To accommodate bowlers who wish to play every week and don’t want to hassle with bringing money each time, we offer a 20-game punch card for $120. Contact AIR 503-823-2883. Shoes are included in the price.

Pre-registration is not required. Adaptive bowling equipment is available.

TEEN SPRING BREAK TRIPS

Pets, Pizza, and Games!

Spend the morning at the Oregon Humane Society giving some love to the cats and dogs. We will head off to John’s Incredible Pizza for buffet lunch and then spend the afternoon seeing if we can beat our scores at the video games. Note: Cost of trip will include the cost of lunch and 30 game tokens. Bring: Additional money if you wish to play more games.

Seaside Aquarium and Lunch

Immerse yourself in the mysteries of the ocean. Check out the many exhibits on everything from shipwrecks to sea creatures.

These exhibits will take you on an adventure to explore the Oregon Coast through interactive, hands-on activities. Note: Cost of the trip will include admission into the Aquarium and a snack at DQ. Bring: $20 for lunch at Fultano’s Pizza, $5 for fish food, and a rain jacket.

Bonneville Dam and Fish Hatchery

Today’s adventures include a trip to the Washington side of Bonneville Dam and the Fish Hatchery! We will tour behind the scenes to watch for any salmon swimming upstream, after lunch we will go back to Oregon and tour around the fish hatchery to see how many different types of fish we can see. Bring: A sack lunch, $.50 for fish food, and a rain jacket.

Some recreation programs may run as conditions and instructor availability allow. Decisions to operate on a specific site basis are made when it is determined that all programs may operate safely. Spend the morning at the Oregon Humane Society giving some love to the cats and dogs. We will head off to John’s Incredible Pizza for pizza buffet lunch and then spend the afternoon seeing if we can beat our scores at the video games. Note: Cost of trip will include lunch and 60 game tokens.

Horseback Riding

Want to try something fun and new try our exciting small group lesson. All while having fun learn confidence and safety for you and your horse. We will be focusing on equitation and working as one with the horse. There are over 180 beautiful acres with pastures and trails. After spending an hour on our lessons, we will be touring around the barn helping with grooming and feeding the horses. Come explore the Mark Hatfield Aquarium in Newport, Oregon. Immerse yourself in the mysteries of the ocean. Check out the many exhibits on everything from shipwrecks to sea creatures.
