UPDATE ON PORTICO REPORT As you might be aware we have been working with external consultants Fisher Associates who are producing a report based on discussions with a range of staff and stakeholders.

This report is for the owners of Portico, Portsmouth City Council, to better understand how we operate, whether there are any improvements that could be made and what future investment could look like. It is good practice for shareholders to carry out reviews of their companies to ensure they are getting the best value.

The final report is likely to take a few months to allow a deep dive into any recommendations and we will keep you posted if there are any to take forward.

In the meantime we continue to plan for the future for Portico Shipping Ltd. Thank you to everyone who has worked with the team from Fisher Associates, it has been really valuable for them to understand what happens at Portico and how we work from those closest to what happens here and our plans for the future.

WELCOMING THE COMMUNITY OPEN DAY 2023

Following on from the success of last year, our neighbours at Portsmouth International Port hosted their second community open day on Saturday 7 October. Nearly 2000 people attended, smashing the 2022 visitor record, and Portico played a key role in this success by bringing a wide range of their impressive cargo handling equipment over to the port for an interactive demonstration.

Matt Green and Jonathan Williams also manned a stand in the ports new terminal extension, which hosted an array of interactive exhibitions from port partners, spending all day chatting to people about what Portico do. 35 of the port’s partners came along with stands to speak to the public about their work in the maritime, construction and education sectors.

The feedback from the public has been so positive, with a huge interest in maritime careers and a pride in their city owned port. The behind the scenes access, and the chance to board ships, trucks, forklifts and material handlers was a rare treat, and so was the sunshine and hot October weather – which made the ice cream stand a real hit!

Thank you to Lewis, Richard, James, Mark, Konrad, Matt and Jon who gave up their Saturday to showcase Portico, and put up with a constant stream of children pressing ship and truck horns…

DELIVERING THE GOODS The haulage team are pleased to welcome two new members, James Monk and Matt Moore, who have joined from ARJ Forwarding. Together they bring with them an existing customer base and nearly 40 year’s experience in the industry, and we’re to welcome them onboard.

This expansion is all part of the plan to further grow and solidify our position in the logistics industry. By providing an expert and bespoke haulage service, suppliers can rely on Portico to transport their goods to their next UK destination, on top of the import, export, freight forwarding and warehousing services we already deliver – making Portico a reliable and cost effective alternative for our customers.

CUSTOMS TO THE RESCUE The customs agency have taken on extra work this last month to help out Yusen Logistics, who fell victim to a cyber attack in September. The incident resulted in a widespread IT outage and disruption across the company’s UK network, meaning they had to seek assistance from other agencies to help keep their customers supply chains moving.

Portico’s expert customs agency came to the rescue and have helped them to continue to deliver their service with

very minimal delays and disruption during what has been a very challenging time for Yusen Logistics. Due to the severity of the attack, it looks like they’re set to continue their assistance over the coming weeks, which will prove invaluable to the business and their customers. A huge shoutout to the agency teams, deputy managers and the forwarding teams who have all pulled together to take on this new challenge.
