About me

Stem Architects - 2017 Prior to completing my undergraduate degree, I Participated within the RIBA mentorship programme.

During this scheme a group of us were assigned to a mentor where we were able to visit live constructions sites, gained an insight into practice and enhanced our learning experience later implemented in our final project.

Originally from Afghanistan I came to the UK in 2008 as an unaccompanied minor refugee with non-existent knowledge of the spoken language and the British culture. Along the years, with help from family and friend and my teachers, I was able to culturally and educationally adapt myself to my new surroundings. Influenced purely by passion and the destructive state of Afghanistan, at a very young age I become increasingly passionate about architecture hoping one day will enable me to help and build for people affected by war and poverty.

Interests

Beside architecture I enjoy playing a variety of sports such as tennis, sprinting and long distance running and hoping to run the 2021 London Marathon. Furthermore, I have recently returned from travelling around Europe while on a 10000-mile driving trip involving journey from Lincoln to Greece covering 17 countries in 17 days. I also enjoy reading personal developmental books with some of my favourite writers being Khalid Hosseini Paulo Coelho and Jeremy Till

Design Studio Architects- Jan 2013- Aug 2016 During my gap year and university summer breaks, I was part of the feasibility team responsible for carrying surveys, drafting and producing planning applications for residential and commercial projects. Alongside producing 3D models and visuals I was also part of various competitions at DSA.

Extra Care Housing Competition - 2015 While studying my bachelor’s I also took part in competitions designed for developing architectural guidelines for elderly in need of extra care. The competition focused on enhancing social interaction between elderly and spaces for those with visual, hearing and physical difficulties. The teams consisted of student from Fifth- and Second-years architecture students as well as nurses and business students.

Next Home - 2015-2019 Throughout studying my architecture degree I also had a part time weekend job at Next.As a Next Home specilaist I was responsible for assissting customers with chosing the right product combinations of specific colour, fabric and texture to create the right atmosphere within any space.The experience allowed me to improve my communicational skills when dealing expensive products.

Worked as an assistant Chef/Waiter at Sultan restaurant in Leicester, enabling me to work under pressure while keeping productive, calm and professional with all customers.
